Firstly thanks Lisa for taking this on. You're a real sport!!! (I've already publicly thanked Kimi in another thread:))
Now, please could you link up the two threads, ie put a link to the Comments thread in the homework thread and vice versa? It makes life a lot easier:)

Lisabee,
Thank you so much for volunteering to take over the Creative Homework. I have done my homework, but Pixentral is having issues right now. I will post it later tonight.
I have left a post thanking Kimi for all that she has done. I am very appreciative of her work. Lisa, I usually try to help out all that I can with things I participate in. I don't have lots of time and I don't have a lot of confidence in myself, but I will try to post a homework if you need some help. Thanks again. We appreciate you.

Erika: another option I just found while checking out the "homework" site for this week, and it looks really interesting. Thought I'd just throw this into the suggestions for you.

Thank you for stepping in to bring us a tutorial. I so look forward to Wednesdays!
I'm having a problem accessing the tutorial. Everytime I go to the web page, I get the Internet Explorer Script Error message. No matter how many times I click either yes or no, it pops right back up. I can't even close the page! The same thing happens when I do to the page in Websi's reply. Does anyone know how I can get rid of the error message and use the web page?

Tony, I love what you did in your second post, it's just awesome!!

Martha, with Internet Explorer 7 I get a small yellow triangle with an exclamation mark on the lower left corner of the window, meaning there's a script error in the page, but everything loads just fine... Maybe the error comes from the advertisement? Try reloading the page by pressing the Ctrl + F5 keys, to get the ad to refresh itself too. :)
I have Opera as my default browser and don't get any error at all, but I don't get the ads either so the problem in IE may come from those.

Me thinks me is doing something very wrong with this tut.
When it says to flip, all my layers flip. Is this supposed to happen? My result is nothing like the stuff that has been posted already. I don't mind not being 'the same', but I do mind if I am not getting the tut right.
Have tried three times, and still no good.

Toni, make sure you have Image>Rotate>Flip LAYER, which is below the first line in the Rotate menu. The "Flip" command farther up will flip everything. I made this mistake many times at first, too.:o

Martha,
I had the same exactly the same Script error message & also couldn't get rid of it or close the page initially. Here's what I did:
Firstly, to close the page I used the enter key to close the error message and almost at the same time clicked with my mouse on the 'x' at the top right of the page.
Then once I was back on my usual web page I entered the url of www.BioRUST.com (http://www.BioRUST.com) in my address bar. So far so good. Then I went to tutorials and found it that way (it's under Textures), and it eventually managed to load with no error messages. Then I saved the page. It just didn't like me going direct from Lisa's link for some reason.

Wow,
how nice to get up this morning, get my cup of tea and come over to the forum and see what everyone has been doing with this :). Thanks to you all.
This effect is reminding me of a kaleidscope and also it's a bit like looking at clouds and seeing different images/shapes in them.
Great idea Tony, Clara and Maria to add more colours and very effective results. I shall try that later.
Martha, I hope you have been able to get the page to open ok. I haven't had any problems with the link yesterday or today. Does it help to copy and paste it into the browser bar?
Toni, the flip layer instruction is one I have to take care with too, it's so easy to go for the first one in the drop down menu when it is the lower one 'flip layer horizontal/vertical'.
Bill - it's somehow comforting to see a car in there :D :D

I might have guessed you'd morph a Studebaker . I found it interesting starting with an image how quickly it became unrecognizable. Good one!
And in the UK it's "stepping up to the crease" - at least that's what my father always used to say and he was a big fan of the game.

Thanks Clara, I think we all wanted to keep the creative homework going. And participating is probably the most important part of the process :).
If you have any ideas for the homework, then let me know.
I'm glad pixentral got back to normal, gremlins gremlins everywhere

D'you know, I couldn't for the life of me think of 'crease' this morning  my excuse being I'm not a cricketer.
I'm thinking though that whatever the noun, it is better to step up to something rather than in something  :D

Another question.......are you sick of me yet?:)
I notice some clever people are adding extra colours.....at what stage does one do this? I haven't got a clue how to go about it, but I sure like the results.

Got It!!! I first went to BioRust.com and to textures. With each click I got the script error box but I clicked yes (or whatever) and it went away. Now on to the homework. I like all the ones that have been done so far.

Toni - I liked the colors created by the lens flare filter, so after I added the flares I duplicated the layer. I ran the chrome filter on the bottom layer and changed the top layer's blend mode to color.

San and Dennis,
Welcome to you both! :) Great to have you join us.
Lovely results, great colours.
Dennis, the links to pixentral worked fine, if you would like the thumbnail to appear in the post, then copy and paste into your post the link that is next to 'forum' beneath your pic in pixentral.
Both ways work fine, it's up to you.

thank you lisa for the welcome. You know, looking at this assignment, our designs remind me so much of kaleidoscopes that when the end was turned, different patterns emerged. looking at mine this AM, it reminds me of a "fantasy dog" with its eyes and nose. . . I think I need to take a break. :) I really liked what Toni did with the cookie cutter tool. Everyone here is so creative!

San, you're right, they are just like kaleidoscopes.
I know exactly what you mean, you can look at each one and see something different. :)

Thanks Lisa, it was lots of fun doing the tut and I figured I should find a way to display them all together.
Besides, thanks to your added instructions it was nice to follow a tut without getting stuck :D

Suzanne,
that looks fine to me, though I see what you mean about possibly an x-ray :).
While playing around with this technique I noticed that messing about with the wave generator options really could make a difference, I think I preferred to have the number of waves generated on a lower (rather than higher) setting. Then of course the randomize takes it in a whole other direction.
Lisa :)

Marie,
that looks great :), nice coloured effect.
I don't think there is a 'wrong' way to do this, it's all open to experimentation and interpretation.

I noticed the same thing and I'm not quite sure what randomize is randomizing. If you change the settings in the wave generator options then randomize seems to start from a completely different pattern.
Also the settings are sticky so if you want get back to the default settings you need to use Alt-Cancel to Reset.
