View Full Version : Digital Camera Poll

Only curious! For those who uses more than 1 camera, please answer about your favorite one, I mean the one in your stock that you will bring on a desert island…(hum, ok, for some very deeply and mysterious and extradimensional reasons, you can use your computer on this desert island in which a graceful and very kind Alien put a powerful desktop working exactly for your digital camera….)

Just wondering, why are Panasonic and Samsung grouped?
Dave,
Because the poll entries are limited and I had to reduce the number of entries. On the draft, I had more choice like argentic cameras under each trademark. No more intention than the limit of the poll.

Although I'm a Nikon guy that no FOV crop is a great feature on the 5D!

I use a Nikon D70. I have a Nikon FE2 (35mm), but I really like digital cameras and I already had a lot of lenses that would work on the D70, so I stayed with Nikon.

Merrill,
Over here it's going to sell at around £2,500+ (about $4,500). It would be worth getting a cheap flight and buying it over there...

Well I have more cameras than Carter has little liver pills. Now how many are old enough to understand that comparison? In any event I am a Nikon man. This is not because they are the best cameras but because I have used them so long I can use them in my sleep. I have two digital and I prefer the D70 over my toy point and shoot digi-Nikon. The question was "My favorite camera is:" and gave no options for film cameras therefore I couldn't vote for you mine. My favorite camera is a Nikon F5, not only is it the best Nikon ever built but also IT IS the best 35 mm camera ever built bar none. Now that should stir the pot!

I live an hour from Toronto and still support the Habs so do you honestly think that I am concerned with what is most popular? I simply by the best which is often not the most expensive.
Now to really shake your faith in the camera gods or is that goddesses I have presently ordered a PowerShot A620 . You see while Nikon does make the best cameras Canon may makes the best slip in my jacket pocket camera with the advent of the PowerShot A620 and PowerShot A610.

Grant, next time I'm at the photo store, I'm gonna make sure to hold a Nikon in my hands and have a good thought for you
Seriously, I was only teasing you. Nikon, Canon, Panasonic, General Motors, Braun, anyone buys what they feel the most comfortable with. Period.
I have an A510 and I just so love it! It's handy, and does a nice job for instant pictures.

I am all too aware that most cameras built have the capability of taking better images than I can. The quality of my images are all my fault and I never blame my SH|tty cameras.

I think I have tossed a few of the film ones.
Carbone
October 14th, 2005, 07:55 PM
I kept the film one because, sometimes, when I feel like using an old thing, I get the Elan 7e out and shoot slides.
It's either that or get a 486-DX2 66Mhz with turbo button computer ;-)
Ray
P.S. If anyone is asking, a Canon EOS IX is actually an APS (Advanced Photoshop System) reflex, using the 10D's and Elan's lenses. It doesn't really make better picture in terms of grain, but using a 28mm and shooting in panorama, it makes a kind of cool picture !

You know, last year, I almost got a Nikon, the very small gold like model. After discussing its pros (and cons...) with the sales person, we agreed I was better with, yet, another Canon.

P.S. And add to that a Canon scanner and two Canon printers.
P.P.S. I'm a lost cause.. ;-)

Truth is, my local camera shop (7 or 8 streets from home) is having two major sales per year, and lately, has begun selling Canon gear at ridiculous price (discontinued, opened box, etc). That's where I got a Selphy printer at 50% discount.
Though, I would really like to meet a Canon employee (with or without a discount card), it would make for pleasant conversation, given the quantity of Canon equipment I have home :-)

Well you learn something different everyday ...
I found out that Carter's Liver pills were:
It was a very heavily-advertised patent medicine, which lasted perhaps into the 1960s. Carter's Little Liver Pills became Carter's Little Pills when those in government made the point that these pills had nothing whatsoever to do with the liver. The new name had less appeal, and the brand faded away.
Well I never knew that :)

I finally broke down and bought a Canon .... No I haven't moved over to the dark side yet.
I finally picked up my new camera but I decided on the A610 instead of the A620. After the sales lady impressed me all to heck so I grabbed it with a 512 card. I drove home happier than a pig in muck and ..... my wife now owns a brand new Canon A610 ;(
Truth is it was a birthday present for her.
Oh strange thing is there is no version of Elements shipped with this camera.

Oh strange thing is there is no version of Elements shipped with this camera.
This, my friend, happened when Adobe decided that Photoshop Elements 3 was going to be different for Mac and Windows. Go figure, a CD can be made to be exclusive for both platform (Win can't see Mac cant' see Win, if needed), if Adobe was so eager to seperate their market...
