I was having trouble with my round hard and soft brushes, Byron suggested I check my settings in the tablet options. I deselected the pressure option and the brushed started working correctly. I as mentioned before was also having trouble with the burn and dodge tools. I set the mouse aside and used the stylus and they started working, Do I have some settings wrong or is the Wacom tabled corrupted. It is probably operator error. I do like the tablet for close work, but would like it to operate with either the mouse or stylus.
Thanks

Hi Gang,
I have the Wacom on my Christmas list (Santa, are you a reader of this forum?). I use the Logitech wireless desktop such that the keyboard and mouse transmit a RF signal to the Logitech receiver. The receiver has two wires to the computer's DIN ports for mouse & keyboard. Can I continue to use my keyboard and mouse, but interface the Wacom to a USB port?
Thanks,
Bob

The Wacom mouse and the stylus interfere with each other and if you happen to leave the mouse too close to the tablet it messes up the regular mouse. Must admit that I had so many problems because of where I left it I hid the mouse and have forgotten where I put it :)

...Can I continue to use my keyboard and mouse, but interface the Wacom to a USB port?...Bob,
That's how I do it... they co-exist perfectly, for me. Of course, you can get strange behavior if you try to use them at the same time. And you have to make sure that neither the stylus or pad-mouse are in proximity of the pad when you want to use your normal mouse.

Whizbo,
I don't think anything is broken - I think that's just how it works.
For reference, I use a Wacom Graphire2, and it works just like you describe.
When I go into the Brush tool's Tablet options, and enable pressure for Size, the stylus works just like expected... harder pressure makes wider brush strokes. But if I try to use the Wacom mouse on the tablet, nothing happens.
I see this as normal, because I have told PSE to vary the brush size based on pressure from the tablet, and the mouse is not a pressure-sensitive device -- so no pressure information is sent from the tablet to PSE, so the brush size remains at the lowest possible.
I can, however, on-the-fly begin using my regular mouse and the brush paints at its full size -- because the tablet settings have no affect on the regular mouse.
I know that the tablet's Control Panel has some options that are discrete between pen and mouse operation. Maybe you could look there to see if something is available in mouse mode which would notify the current application that you are using the mouse instead of the pen. I checked my own for that, but could not find anything like it... I mention it because I do not know what model you have, and am allowing that Wacom may have done something like that in later versions.
Short of that, though, I don't know of any way to change the behavior, other than manipulating your Brush options. And yes - as you've already discovered, there are other tools (Burn, Dodge, and more) which "silently" get some of their characteristics from your currently-selected Brush options...
Of course, I will be happy to see someone smart come along and explain why I am all wrong, and show how to fix things!!! :D
