Got home today after a nice visit with my son and his family in California -- suffering from Forum Withdrawal. Have a lot of catching up to do.

One great bonus of the trip was the opportunity to have lunch yesterday with Byron Gale. Isn't it fun being able to see forum friends in person? :)

Yes, it is fun to get to meet people from the forum in person. I had the pleasure of meeting 3 fabulous woman when I was on Florida. I can imagine a lunch with you and Byron as being a lot of laughs.

Sela, I see you are in Santa Clarita. Did the big tunnel accident affect you folksmuch? We have a Thousand Trails Park near there. We always avoided Hwy 14 by going down Soledad Canyon Rd. A little curvier, but not any steep climbs or tunnels. That was a tough fire.

I can't believe that nightmare was a week ago! It was just so sad that those people lost their lives in that horrible crash. I had just been through the area earlier in the evening...not in the truck lanes, but in the regular lanes. My dear friend works for Cal-trans and that area was "his area," and he was there when it happened. He missed being in the tunnel by minutes.

We avoided the area all weekend, and on Monday morning when I had to make the drive into the San Fernando Valley, I gave myself three hours to get there, which usually it is a 40-min. drive.

Remarkably, there was no traffic at all on Monday morning, and it only took me an hour to get to my job. I believe that people were told to stay away if you didn't have to go over the pass. Cal-trans did a fantastic job of getting the freeway cleaned up and open again. The tunnel is still closed, however.
