Hi all,
I've been researching various compact photo printers, trying to settle on one that I want to take on our Disney Trip next month. We live in Maine and will be driving to Fort Wilderness CG at Disney. It is a 2 day drive (~ 16 hrs a day) with our family of 5. We do this once a year (not necessarily Disney, but some place very far, we all enjoy the trip).
The goal is to find something fun for the kids to occupy their time. They have about 46hrs of time trapped in a car (round trip). Nintendo DS & DVD's on the laptop only go so far.
Our two oldest (9 & 12) are into writing in journals (daily for school). I'd like to have them keep trip jounals or scrapbooks of the trip. They each have digital cameras and like to take photos. I'm thinking that they could also print their photos while in the car on one of those portable printers (battery powered printer would be great, but we have an inverter if we need 110v). My son is 6 (will be 7 the week we get back). While he is too young to keep a writing journal, I think this will be fun for him too (he is just now starting to read and write).
BestBuy has the Epson Dash (http://www.epson.com/cgi-bin/Store/consumer/consDetail.jsp?BV_UseBVCookie=yes&oid=63069797) and it really seems like a pretty nice printer.
Canon has the Pixma and Selphy's. All of my cameras and gear are Canon, but my printers are Epson. I've never seen these, online they look big?
BestBuy also has that bulky HP portable printer, it is a lot more $$. Interested to hear if someone who has it thinks it is worth the extra $$.
Does anyone have one of these portable photo printers?
Do you like it?
Do you use it?
Does it stand up to the "portable use" (ie getting lugged around?).
I am thinking beyond this trip, we do a lot of camping during the normal season, this would be a hit with the other campers. It would be handy at some of the kids activities too (Scouting, basketball, Softball, etc).
Thanks in advance,
