Hi and welcome! Your image is not only pixelly, but it's um..... invisible! :D Perhaps you could upload it to Pixentral.com (http://pixentral.com/) then insert the link in a new post in this thread so we can see your picture. I'll bet someone here will be able to offer some advice then...

eventually they will have arms and little faces and such but I want to clean up the lines and learn how to color them and stuff
oh and pretend the giant grapes and peanut arent there. those are just for me. The image eventually will be going on a t shirt so it has to be clean looking and all that jazz.

13',
The edges of your drawing look a bit jagged to me - is that what you're trying to deal with? Click the menu Image > Resize > Image Size... and tell me what the two top Width and Height pixel values are. Also, in the Document Size section, what is the Resolution?
I'm asking because I suspect your resolution is part of the problem.
Also - what tool did you use to draw the black figures? Pencil, or Brush?

actually, I quickly drew up the images in paint, used pse 4.0 to tilt some things and stuff and now im trying to clean them up and fix the jagged edges you saw so i can submit it to www.threadless.com. but i have no clue how to color it or fix the lines or anything in pse.
Theyre jagged because they were done in paint and I just used the line tool for more of it in paint.
did that help at all??

That helps!
Would you be opposed to re-creating your drawings in PSE? I believe that would be easier than trying to fix the imported line-drawing.

In rough steps...
Create a new, blank document. ( CTRL-N, or File > New > Blank File...)
Set the size you want (if you like the size of your old document, you can enter the same size you got when you followed my steps in post #5 to look at the Image Size dialog). Probably pick a Resolution of 300, and a Background of White.
When your new document opens, create a new blank layer.
Select the Brush tool in the toolbox. On the Options bar, pick the brush settings you want. You will probably have to try it a few times with various sizes to get the one you really like. Just Edit > Undo (CTRL-Z) to go back in time and pick a different brush configuration. (Or, you can play with several settings next to each other, and then delete the whole upper layer, add a new one, and start afresh once you've picked a brush)
At the bottom of the Toolbox, click the upper/left color "chip" to open the color picker and choose the color with which you will paint/draw.
I would suggest that you add a new, blank layer to contain each item in your drawing - i.e. the PB jar on its own layer, the jelly jar on its own layer, etc. Then you can move them independently to arrange things.
Try a few things and see what happens!

awesome thank you so much for your help.
the only reason I didnt do it in pse to begin with is because I dont have a steady hand and the set lines in paint helped me..i was hoping there was some kinda outline tool I could just use in pse that would clean it up and make it look all spiffy. :(

PSE has a grid that will overlay without becoming part of your project. Go to view>Grid. Under photoshop elements(left side of header) can adjust the grid by slecting preferences>grid. Can get as many lines to help guide as like. Hope that helps. PS for perfectly straight lines turn on snap to grid under view(but leave off for non-straight lines).

You could try recreating using the shapes in PSE. You can take various shapes and add to others, subtract intersecting areas of shapes, transform, etc in many ways and not have to have a steady hand or graphics tablet.
There are some videos in the Scrapbooking area of Subcriber Area by Linda Sattgast that shows how to do this to make tags. (Bottom of screen, 2 videos)
These show how to use shapes to build art projects. I'm sure there are others in the tutorial area that would help also.
Your lid (or sailor hat) would probably be several ellipses plus a modified polygon shape all joined to make up the final art. I did this in about five minutes.

Good luck!
