Pauline,

I'm finally doing the lessons from McClelland's PSE3 One on One and I'm stuck on lesson 4. I can't find Deke Edges in the Styles & Effects menu. Did I miss something on the cd? Thanks.

Ok what you need to do is open up your effects palette and go click on all and you should find it it has deke outlines and deke this and deke that... they are some really cool effect either that or reinstall that certain part of the program cause when you download the software it automatticly installs the effects and puts them there...

Tell me if this helps!

Pauline,

I found it. It was there, I didn't look in the right place. The first part of lesson 4 went real well once I found Deke Edges. Onward now. :D

Thomas,

Thanks. It was installed, I didn't look in the right location. It is some cool stuff. Have you seen the cool effects from Elements One Click WOW? That is a real gas. It's quite a list of wow this and wow that, more effects.

Yea, I don't like some of them but most of them are good but some have those stupid shadows and you can't make them go away I have tired everything.... No problem though... I love that book you will find yourself checking back to it so many times I know I have.

Pauline,

I received the Jeremy Sutton book Friday along with RAW 101 by Jon Canfield. The Painter IX book came with a cd-rom that includes brushes and other goodies. I haven't installed any yet, want to read through chapter 1 first.

BTW, we survived the last camping trip of the season even though there were a few nights that were in the mid-30s(F). And 5 of the 7 days had to be overcast enough the natural lighting stunk. Did manage a few good shots, 2 are the latest in the Gallery.

Eva, I like the sunset picture on the Goldenrod. It has such a nice soft look and the colours are beautiful.

You'll have to tell me how you like the Jeremy Sutton book once you get into it. Sadly I have to say that I haven't worked on my Painter book in probably 2 weeks! I really must set aside a dedicated day for it because it's such a good program and I will probably use it more if I was more capable with it!! I almost forget I have it since I spent 99% of my time with ps.

Pauline,

Thank you, the goldenrod shot is my favorite. I used the flourescesnt setting for white balance and I think it may have helped. It's a tip I read about using the flourescent setting when ligting caused a blue cast and to enhance sunset colors.

I'm haven't spent much time with Painter. Most of my time is with PSE, taking pics, or here. I have plenty saved to work on & learn with for the winter.
