Hi,
This is a simple project that I made for the kids in the photo.
It was good practice in layers, selecting and cutting, using filters and the type tool.
I really enjoyed doing it. I did not draw the bus, that came courtesy of the web.

Lovely job Kev. Could you try removing some of the shadows from the little girl's face in the middle?? You really can't see her at all.
That's your challenge for today.

Pauline,
I've lightened the shadow but even after selecting just the area of the shadow I couldn't get rid of the line the shadow makes.
What do you think.

Kev ...
... I think that I prefer the little girls photo the way it was before.
You have done a great job in this image... shows a lot of imagination and its very well done :)

Kev, you don't want to completely take out the shadow anyway, just lighten it some so that her face shows through. Her hat would make a shadow, so try and go about half way with the lightening, so that some features peek through and it looks natural.

Hi,
Thanks for all the comments.
Will try again later.
Ah! The beauty of layers - The ability to alter things when ever you wish.

Hello,
Well I've altered the photo again, this time I think that it is OK.
You can see Kate's face with a touch of shadow.
Kate is in the middle of the three kiddies.Hope this pleases everyone.

looks great Kev ! Ya know another approach would be to duplicate her and then apply the shadow/highlight option until her face shows a bit better...I say duplicate just in case...this way you can then add a layer mask to her and paint back in the other areas that may have been lightened too much....just in case that happens. But I still think it looks great anyways ! Love it !

Hi Kev,
Very cute idea, wonderful photos-but being a teacher I can resist...please spell school correctly? You worked so hard, and did such wonderful job creating a special memory-the little one in the picture should be reading the correct spelling. Sorry if this seems picky-it's just a little pet peeve, like when you see "kraft korner" or a kid's educational website I just saw called, of all things, "The Kaboose"!!
Just my humble opinion...

Hi Carol,
Sorry if my spelling of school upset you but it was done to give the photo a funny effect.
Young Kate, who is six also took me to task for spelling it incorrectly.
I like it.

Give Katie a pat on the head, and tell her that they didn't need all those extra letters, when you were a kid.

Carol...my kids love watching Rugrats....I remember when my daughter was really little and I had to keep reminding her that they aren't pronouncing the words right and then I'd have to tell her how you are really suppose to say it....over and over ! Grrrr, anyways, got passed that and now it's the other little guys turn...he's 4 and of course very influential...I try to skip that channel as much as possible now. I wish they just played Sesame Street all day ;) Yes, Rugrats is a cute show but I really wish the producers would consider the proper grammar issue since it's mostly 'ittle kids that watch it.

Ok, Kev, if Katie is correcting you, you are all set! What a cutie she must be. I love that age...
Jodi-same here with Rugrats, my kids were hooked for years, and I did the same thing!
Did you all ever notice that all the Warner Bros. cartoon characters had speech impediments? Stutterers, lateral lisps, etc?
:D
