View Full Version : Deleting Projects and Project Workflow

I had been working with PSE 4 to build DVD slide shows. I now have PSE 6 and PE 4, and am trying to get a feel for how best to use the two programs for more advanced slideshow DVDs. I've tried a few experimental slideshow Projects, building them in PSE and then sending them to PE for further editing and enhancing. I have two questions that I could use help with.

I know there has to be an easy way to do this, but I can't seem to find any way to actually delete a Project. Do I have to go manually into My Documents/Adobe/etc., and physically delete them from each of the folders where the names appear, or is there something equivalent to the Delete command that is usually found under the File menu of most programs? I know there is a 'Delete Render Files', but I don't believe that deletes the actual project.

My second question concerns workflow. If I'm making a travel slideshow of still images (90%) and video clips (10%) from 3 countries, am I better off making 3 separate slideshows in PSE and then bringing them in one at a time to PE for further editing and enhancing, and eventual combining, or doing one complete slideshow in PSE, and then bringing that into PE to be worked on. The reason I'm asking this, is that PE seems to take a fairly long time to process projects, especially as they get larger and more complex.

Thanks in advance for any help.

These FAQs from the Premiere Elements User to User Forum at Adobe (http://www.adobe.com) may be of interest. I do not have access to Premiere Elements 4 at this time, but these FAQs have been applied to versions 1, 2, and 3. But, I suspect that they will apply to the 4 version as well. As soon as possible I will confirm.

When you get a chance, check out these topics in the Search at this web site. Deleting projects has been discussed here before.

Please post again if any further questions.

ATR, thank you very much for the information and links.

It is hard to believe that at this stage of Premier Elements life-cycle, that there still is no 'Delete Project' function.

I may have more questions when I try to bring together 'sub-projects' into a final project, but for right now I think I have a better understanding of proper workflow for large PE projects.

Thanks again,

Stew

Stew,

Good luck getting comfortable with the program. Experimenting and exploring is a great learning experience.
