I love this shot; the visual interaction between the little girl and Denali speaks volumes without any words needed.

She is adorable....were you taking a walk in the park??? The spontaneous shots are the best, aren't they!! Lucky you, you had your camera to capture it!!

Ron,
great shot, you couldn't set a shot like this to order.
I'm trying to figure out who is the most intent, Denali or the gorgeous little girl.

Ron, I was looking through your gallery and you have a wonderful way of using light to create just the right effect/message. Do you do that with your camera or with Photoshop, or maybe both?

Tricia,
Everything I do usually goes through Levels first. Then I may burn some areas that I want darker. I tried to lighten the girl's face a bit here, because of the harsh shadows. Hope this gives you some ideas.

Ron, what a priceless shot. You should print it and keep it with you when you go to that park and watch for the little girl and her parents and give it to them.

She was there with her father last week, which was probably one of the last warm days this year. I was there today and it was cloudy and about 58 degrees and very few people there. If I see them again Ill write down their address and send it to them.

The little girl and Denali Pop out from the shot. Did you blur the background with Photoshop or with the camera? I would love to get that same effect. But can't seem to get the subject to Pop.

Joe,
Focus preferences start with your camera; review your camera's manual about the Aperture Priority Mode until the
light goes on. You can do all kinds of things with light in Photoshop after you have captured your subject, using the depth of field you want.
Thanks for the question; I hope this helps you.

Thank You Ron.

I want to make sure I understand. What do you mean by depth of field in Photoshop? How do I manipulate this in Photoshop?

Joe,
Sorry if I phrased it wrong. Depth of field determines what part of the picture is in focus, and is based on the aperture setting of your lens. Certain things like smudging and sharpening can be done with Photoshop, but what you see focused begins with your camera.

Great shot, Ron. Kids and dogs just go together, and I mean that in a good way!
