The challenge with Elements is not usually taking good images and creating better images but some times it is about bad images. Here is David's Challenge, hand held, available light, improper colour balance ... let see what else? In any event have fun with this one!
************************************************** ************
Present and Past Challenges will remain Until tomorrow at 7:00 pm the
then the Present will be Past and new images will be posted as Present.
* Important notice to all the new people in this forum. This is not a
close shop you are all invited to submit an image. If you don't think you
are good enough this is your first mistake, I think most have found that
working on the Challenge has improved their personal level. So young and
old, hot shots and cool dudes now is you time to post.
Special note send entries to: thechallenge@eastlink.ca

With much apologize the Challenge is posted. Last night was Doreen's 60th Birthday! After a fine meal and lots of drink the furniture was pushed back the instruments were take out of their cases and the sound of capos snapping was deafening. To steal a phrases "We sang every song that driver knew, yeah"

Again I must apologize as I never gave any details as to this image. The musician on the left is David Francey (http://www.davidfrancey.com/), a two time Juno winner and on the right his side man Craig Werth (http://www.craigwerth.com/) who comes from south of the border. On a recent Maritime tour David and Craig stopped at our home for a meal just before the did the concert that got me this shot.

Folks made some beautiful music with these performers.
ALEX B: I like the variety of your images this week -- the fireworks
and the foreground crowd in #3 are especially neat.
BARBARA W: Very nice black and white version in #1 and a cool 'collage'
effect in #2.
BEN M: Using the two spots from the original was, well, original!
BILL Z: Mufti-directional wind filters? Neat effect.
CHUCK F: I like the starburst spots and the sepia tone -- is that the
Lost in Space robot working the third guitar? Danger, Will Robinson!
LISA B: The musicians in a bottle are a hoot!
MALCOLM D: Nice rear screen video effect that gets around the color
problems by exploiting them -- cool.
MARIA EB: The jellyfish are just the right touch for the water
reflection.
MARK R: Look out! Those guitars/banjos/mandolins are multiplying. Love
the Barna tribute image!
RALPH H: Using the silhouettes is a great idea and the tropical setting
is great -- cue 'Browneyed Girl'...
RED S: Those musicians travel with an interesting crowd!
RITA G: Nice animated guitars.
SHARI M: Nice use of the silhouettes -- the notes are a nice touch.
TOM M: Love the woodburning effect.

Bob,
Thank you. I like to mess around with ImageReady once in a while but have never got very far with it. Never found a really thorough tutorial on it, just little bits and pieces. Now that they've discontinued it, there is little hope for more.
Bill Z,
I've been trying to puzzle out how you did that. Are they really just Wind Filters? Applied inside selections to keep them confined to certain sizes? I like it very much.

Bob, thank you! :) The jellyfish did seem to enjoy the concert! :p
Oh, and a question about Challenge 246... When was it announced on the forum? I don't remember seeing any announcement here, unless my mind is playing tricks on me...

Bob - Thanks as always for taking the time to comment. Once again you've nailed the technique ... very impressive. I really like your first image with the lens flare (I think??) spotlight.
Thanks again.

Grant put the image up last night as usual and posted some entries tonight. I didn't see a regular announcement either, but Kimi has posted some comments already!
