Does anyone know if the new Premiere Elements 2.0 is compatible with Photoshop Elements 3.0. Will it work as well as it does with Photoshop Elements 4.0?

I just got Photoshop Elements 3.0 about 6 months ago and I don't really want to upgrade yet.

I was using both versions at different times and taking things into PRE 2 with no problems :)

Tami, Aren't there features of PRE2 that only work with PSE4?

Brice,

Such as? I don't use PSE alot I use the big sister version but when I worked on images and stuff for the online training I used a combo of both 3 and 4.

Gemme something to check and I'll let ya know if it works :)

Tami, I thought PSE4 integrated with PRE2:

 Photoshop Elements Editor can create or modify Premiere Elements DVD templates. In the editor choose File/New/DVD Menu. This option is only a choice if both Photoshop Elements 4.0 and Premiere Elements 2.0 are installed.
 Drag and Drop of assets from Photoshop Elements’ Photo Organizer window into Premiere Elements’ Media window.
 Copy and Paste of assets from Photoshop Elements’ Photo Organizer window into Premiere Elements’ Media window.
 Automatic slideshow creation of selected assets by choosing “Send to Premiere Elements” in Photoshop Elements. This will launch Premiere Elements and create a default slideshow in the timeline using the same selected assets.
 The option to create “DVD with Menu” will show up in Photoshop Elements’ create choices when Premiere Elements is installed on the same machine.
 Ability for Premiere Elements to create new Photoshop Files with the correct 4:3 or 16:9 NTSC or PAL frame size automatically. Simply choose File/New/Photoshop File in Premiere Elements to create a new .psd file that will automatically open in Photoshop Elements. Once you save the file in Photoshop Elements the changes will be automatically updated to the .psd file in Premiere Elements media window.

Just wondering if there were anything else that we could do in PSE4 that can't be done in PSE3.

Brice,

While all of those are correct, and the ones that are interlocking so to speak are PE4/PRE2 designed, it doesn't mean that things that arent the *ship to one from the other* can't be used. It's just not automatic.

I can make my own DVD menu in 3 and use it in 2, I do have to manually put it there tho. I can't do the *ship to*

I can edit my images in 3 and import them to 2 again not the auto send or auto update that is handy if you are using the 4/2 combo.

I'm still working on the slideshow in 3 and getting it to 2 to burn to DVD, I'll let ya know how that goes, when I get time to play with it some more.

But at this time that's the thing that you can't do with 3 that you can do with 4...at least until I see if there is a way out there:)

There very well may be other things as well, but I haven't had a chance to see everything that each can do yet as I do most of this stuff after work, I
will need some more time to check out everything.. Silly people in my house want me to cook and clean and stuff too, which messes with my playtime :(

If you happen to have both programs and find things that either work or don't work together, please feel free to post your findings as well to share the information, which is what we are all here to do.

Thanks!

Tami, can you create a DVD menu in PSE3 and import it into PRE1?

I haven't purchased PRE2 yet. I had performance problems with PRE1 and from what I can see about PRE2, my system would be equally, if not more sluggish. I will probably by PSE4 though. I am doing a lot of composite work in the next 3-6 months and the magic selector tools look very helpful and, I'm hoping, will improve my workflow. If not, I'm sending it back :)

No not to 1.0 with 1 you can only use the menus they provide, which was a not so happy place for alot of people.

That's the best feature of 2 in my opinion. Plus the added formats it now supports:)
