Good Morning boys and girls. It's hump day again. :)
As always this assignment is open to EVERYONE who is reading the forum.
We had so many participate last week, I need to take a moment and say Thank You!
Everyone did a wonderful job! I hope this week we get as many students.
Remember.... if you see an image that you like. Please let your fellow students know about it in the comment thread. Everyone likes a pat on the back.
Have Fun!!
There is no right or wrong way, get in there and play.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Turn to Stone! (isn't that a song?)
Since this is the month of Halloween, lets make something frightening. We well take our little darlings and make them gruesome.
This week you will add a stone look to your image.
You can copy the black and white stone texture in the tutorial.
EDIT: I am editing as I go along. I had to really darken my stone layer to get close the his effect using a levels adjustment. (Ctrl L, and bring your left slider almost over to the right side) Do this after your texture is in place and your blend mode changed to overlay, so you can see the effect you need. Erase the overlapping texture.
http://www.voidix.com/stone.html
After you apply your texture a few times. Play with levels (Ctrl L) to give your image a strange look.
What else can you think to add?
Can't wait to see your creations.
Here is the link to the comment thread.
A few things I did. I erased the eye so it would be clear. I made a selection using the oval marquee. While the selection was active, I added a new blank layer. I used a radial gradient set to a light and dark orange and drew in the selection. I did this for both eyes and merges the gradient layers together. Ctrl E.
changed the blend mode on eye layer to color. Now I have scary eyes. :)
I would play with an area and use Ctrl, Alt, Shift, E to put my new image together and then go on to the next thing I wanted to add.
Then went into my brushes and started digging around. :p Pulled a few images off of goggle. Went thru my blend modes.
Don't be scared of this one. It just requires some playing around. That is the best way to learn. I know the homeworks have been slowing down. I sure hope I am not the only one this week. :eek:
A trip to the "Teddy Bear's Picnic".
Oh, Kimi. I hope you are not thinking of abandoning the creative homework thing. I love it. In my case, it takes me a little longer to do things, since I'm not real fast at creativity. I usually have to make many mistakes, before I get things the way I want them.
Keep up the good work for all of us. This is so much fun, and I love the Challenges thread. Always something to learn from there.
Whoops. Should have posted this in the comments thread. Sorry!
I hated to do this to little Sophie but I had a photo of her making this awful face. Well, sometimes she can be a little devil!
I decided to update my myspace profile pic for Halloween, so I did another. I actually used a sand texture on this one.
Here is my go at it. This one was fun. It was good practice with blending modes. The FREAKY eye on mine is courtesy of my 13 years old, half blind, mini-schnauzer.
Not as imaginitive/creative as some of you but it was a fun exercise and a good way of utilising a substandard image. (It was blurred:() I didn't have the heart to make my beautiful grandson look scarey or ghostly....
Kimi,
Ok, I think I understand how the challenges work--we can use any photo of ours, then apply the tut you suggested?
Then, where do we post them, I can't seem to find the postings that you all are commenting on.
You post the submissions in this thread (PET Creative Homework week #38) and then you post any comments, on submissions that you like, in the "PET Creative Homework Comments week #38 thread"
Haven't played for a while and this didn't come out as planned but just in case I don't get time to try again here's attempt #1 :). Now wish I'd used flash on the original because faking red eye is a lot tougher than I thought it would be.
