Hey Dave,
How do I sign up. Every time I click the "more details" it goes to just a message about the on-line training, but nowhere do I see where I can sign up. It worked yesterday.

With Dorrie on one side and Wendy on the other... does that mean Jodi has to sit on my lap?
Or am I going to have to sit at the front, under teachers watchful eye?

Gary ...
I think that you should be in front so that we can all keep an eye on you :)

Before I join your filling class room I have a question. ( with people already misbehaving) "passing notes back and forth"
Will we be learning about something that is in 4 and can't do in 3?

It doesn't seem like it..looking at the outline. Hopefully Mr. Cross will be around to verify.

PS. My portrait retouching class is for both version 3.0 & 4.0
Never imagined I'd be this excited about getting back to class!
Cathy, If I understand right, the vast majority of things that can be done in PSE4 can be done in PSE3. The steps may be a little different, using the magic wand (PSE3) for example instead of the new magic extractor (PSE4) to make a selection.
If the past is any indicator a fine time will be had by all!

When I was cleaning and polishing Sir's car last night, he told me:
"Although Photoshop Elements 4.0 has a bunch of great new features, we will not leave behind our readers that choose to remain with Photoshop Elements 3.0. As much as possible we will create tutorials that will work on both versions of the software, and if we ever do write about tools that are only in Photoshop Elements 4.0, we’ll make every effort to offer a solution that works in Photoshop Elements 3.0.... Hey you've missed a bit there."

Cathy - I just watched Dave Cross's introduction and he specifically mentions that this course is for PSE3, the word four didn't get a look in!
Guess I'm going to toodle round & sign up. BTW does anyone know how long the 'special offer' ($5 off) lasts for?

Jeez, we've barely started and already all the rambunctious behavior! :?
The retouching class was filmed in version 3, since every technique I use can also be used in ver 4. There may be a couple of "bonuses" thrown in that refer to new capabilities of 4, but this class is for users of both versions, and definitely 3.
I even try my best to use both Windows and Mac shortcuts....
See you in class.....

Well I didn't do the first set of lessons, but I have signed up for this one! I'm not sitting anywhere near Gary. Darn near failed grade 10 math because I liked the boy sitting next to me. It haunted me for the next two years since I didn't understand the fundamentals.

Pauline...I always had a crush on the teachers
Pauline
September 29th, 2005, 09:37 AM
I guess I never had any hot teachers............well exept for when I was in grade 8 and there was an x football player who all the girls were swooning over. I don't think he liked the attention.
How long before I get my class password? Should I move onto other things for now. I have some horrible pictures I took at yesterday's basketball game. I believe I need to learn about using the manual settings.

Well it's either that, or work on the 40 pictures my daughter scanned in last night and print them for her!
Very windy and stormy weather here. The sun is out and I should walk the dog, but I'm feeling very lazy. Guess I'll work on pictures instead. It would be stupid to let her print up pictures containing red eye and badly centered pictures.

Quite the storm we had, tons of trees down around here.
You mentioned bad pics from the b'ball game..what happened?
Pauline
September 29th, 2005, 07:29 PM
Yes, that was quite the storm. Just down the road a big branch the shape of a v was hanging over the hydro lines right in the middle of the road!!
The basketball pictures were kind of dark. Some were okay. The video turn out the best. Part of the problem is the speed with which those girls fly. I didn't have a chance to really look at them again today as I was working on a bunch of other pictures for my daughter. She was thrilled when I got two videos of her where she crashed down on her elbow (and boy you could hear it on the tape) and the other one where she took out two players when she ran into them!!
I realize that I really need to learn to set the manual controls, if I want to take pictures at the games.

Great about the videos, too bad about the pics. Liek you said just a bit of learning. My daughter just made the cheerleading team (competitive, not school), so I'll be learning how to shoot in the gym as well.

Here is one of the pictures. Mind you, when I think about it, I was in the bleachers half way across the gym, so I guess I shouldn't complain!! This is the original. I did a quick 'levels' on it, and it does come out pretty good. I guess I was just hoping not to have to fix them up, but now that I see that I CAN fix them and they'll be clear and no noise, I won't complain. That will be tomorrow's job, as I promised some of the girls a cd with the pictures and video on it.
Oh and in case you didn't notice......neither girl is standing on the court, so DARN, I guess this camera is good!!! My daughter Sam is the one on the left in the red and blue.

Great action shot.... are you going to be one of THOSE moms??

Pauline
September 29th, 2005, 09:59 PM
Hm........what does that mean Gary???
Don't worry, I don't sit on the stands and yell. Sam doesn't mind having her picture taken but my daughter Jill, sits on the bench and covers her face every time she sees the camera move!! (of course she'll be the one years from now that says......."why don't you have any pictures of me???"
Bayla
September 30th, 2005, 08:17 AM
Know just what you mean Pauline. My oldest son just got married and the video guys wanted stills of both bride & groom at different stages of their lives to incorporate into the video. Only trouble is that after about age 11 there are virtually no decent pictures of my son - either he pulled stupid faces, or stuck his hand up in front of his face!
BTW I thought your picture was great - isn't that the art of photography, to take loads of shots in the hope that maybe you'll end up with a few really good ones?
Bayla
Pauline
September 30th, 2005, 08:21 AM
Well Bayla, that is the beauty of digital!! You don't have to worry about the cost of developing a pile of horrible pictures. The problem is that I miss most of the game because I'm looking through the lens. (can be a bit dangerous too if I loose track of the ball! )
Today I plan to work on the basketball pictures. The lighting in gyms is always horrible. They need to be lightened and the yellow cast needs to be removed. (I just think I was expecting miracles with the new camera!!- If I had taken my other one too, I would have realized how much of a miracle the new one really is.)
