hi, I trying to do the border breakout from the video and when I go to the background layer and try to duplicate it I don't get the selection that the video gets. I noticed that when he clicks on the background in layers he gets the circle with the line through it and I get the pointer. Any ideas? Rick

Hi Rick,
The part about him clicking on the layers and having a different shaped cursor than you doesn't matter at all ... what your cursor looks like just depends on what tool you are using.
Now I'm not quite sure at which point you are having the problems ... do you mean at the beginning when he selects the surfer and then does Control J to copy him to his own layer?.

Rick, like Wendy says....with that selection now carried over to that background layer has he did just do a ctrl+J to put it on it's own layer...pay no attention to that little circle with the line through it that Dave got....this happens quite a bit with Elements if you make one little wrong move....altho his move wasn't wrong and Dave knew exactly what he was doing...sometimes Elements just likes to bitch before hand....

 Jody,
I love it. PET3 'bitch beforehand' - this goes back to the 'he' and 'she' conversations earlier.
Ah, yes, they do all assume personalities - and other things,

Liz, I've had my run in with the Preset Manager a couple of times but all in all he aint too bad a guy...stubborn but otherwise OK. I really don't talk to him much anymore tho...not since version 1 anyways. Geeze, it might even be a different dude now.
