After all the support that Mac users have given Adobe software from the get-go, I'm not feeling the love anymore. In fact, what I'm feeling is the sensation that I keep catching my boyfriend (Adobe) flirting with the town slut (PC) behind my back. Since when does Adobe completely ignore Mac users and stop creating new versions of their software for them, but constantly give PC users regular upgrades? Let's see... the current Elements "score" is Mac-4, PC-6. How many more PC upgrades are we going to have to wait through before we get ONE? Is Adobe going to let this trend creep into all their other software offerings as well? Should I even bother to spend the money on CS3 if they're not going to update it for Mac in the future? What the heck is going on?

Hi ...

It is official from Adobe ... the press release was an official Adobe one :)

As far as market share goes the percentage of Elements users is a lot higher that that ... last time we did a poll here it was actually over 20% and usage of Elements big brother photoshop is probably way higher than that :) :)

I suspect that the missing PSE5 for the Mac was simply to do with the changeover to Intel Macs ... in fact until CS3 came out (not long ago) there wasn't a verstion that would run without Rossetta, so I think that Elements users needed to wait until that development was completed.

Anyway the good news is that a Mac version is on its way :)

When PSE 6/PC was released it was announced that a version for Macs would be released in the first quarter of 2008.

Ummm ...

Now there was a message above mine when I posted ...

It said that a press release had said that a Mac version was going to be made available early in 2008 but that the poster didn't know if that was official or not.

Also quoted that maybe the lack of a Mac PSE5 was due to the lower market share ...

Hope that puts my message into context ... as I was replying to it :D:D

Now where did it go ??????

Wendy, the poster was ill-informed and he removed his post when you gave the straight story......:o

Nick ... I have my own little code for Adobe's new developments (so WElementsz is still a big secret). And if you believe that well you will believe anything ...

Last week, I finally gave in and bought Elements 4.0 for Macs. My experience is that there will now be a new edition brought out within a short time.
Three days after I bought iWord, the newer version came out. Grrrrrrrrrrrrr.

Hi there,
I am thinking of getting the new iMac so that I would be able to also use Windows (one of the reasons), thus being able to use the new Elements 6. Sort of an expensive way to do it as I already have a three year old iMac but could give it to my grandkids.
When you mention a new Photoshop Elements for Mac coming out in 2008, would that be 5 or 6? Thanks. Val B.

Hi Val ...

I have Parallels installed on my Mac so that I can switch to Windows but to be honest the only time I use it is when I test Windows software.

I can't wait to try out the Mac version of PSE6 :) :)
