:( I'm confused. I just upgraded my PE3 to PE4. There's no problem so far, everything seems to work except for one. I'm working on a project and I want to see how the transitions and effects flow, so I rendered the project to preview the whole thing. To my suprised, the preview video quality is very low compared to the raw videos that I took.
My questions:
1. Is this normal since this is just preview?
2. Is the preview video quality going to affect the final result (after burning to DVD)?
3. Is there any setting that I need to change to get a better picture quality for preview?

This never happened when I was working with PE3. Or maybe I didnt notice the preview quality since the preview screen was small in PE3 compared to PE4.

Please please help me out. I'm so confused. Hopefully ATR has some feedback

Sorry for the late reply.

Is it just the clarity? Do you have flicker, lines across the screens, etc???

With a sharpness issue, DVD Preview is not the best way to make final decisions on the quality. It is OK for checking menus and some other things, but….

Do not worry just yet. My suggestion is to do a test project, view the Preview and make note of the quality, and then burn to DVD-VIDEO. Then view the DVD-VIDEO on the TV and check out the quality. If it looks poorly, we will go to plan B.

Have you burned any projects to DVD-VIDEO yet with this software? If not, before you do, remember to optimize your system for Premiere Elements, defragmentation, no unnecessary programs running in the background, you know the drill….If you need them, I will round up the links for optimizing Windows XP and/or Vista.

Check out this following FAQ from Adobe Premiere Elements User to User Forum. It discusses many of the issues that you presented.

I will be watching for your progress.
