I just purchased PSE 6. I am not able to upload raw images with the photoshop downloader. The OS is Visa Home. I can upload JPEG's. I opened a case with Adobe 4 days ago but am still awaiting a response. Has anyone else had this problem?

jongallops,
I feel confident that you simply need to update your Camera Raw plug-in.
In the Editor, click Help > About Plug-In > Camera Raw... make note of the version number.
Then go to this (http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshop/cameraraw.html) page and see what version of ACR is required for your camera make/model.
If your installed version is lower than that required, go here (http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=40&platform=Windows) to get a newer version.

Depending on your camera, the version of Adobe Camera Raw that comes with PSE6, may not support it. Go here to download the latest version:

Well, Byron, it sure looks like we agree again... :)

I did not see Byron's post earlier, because I was trying some forum searches. I searched for 'download RAW' and found that 'RAW' was excluded from the search. 'Download' alone, was producing worthless results. Going to Google and searching for 'download RAW', specifying the photoshopelementsuser.com site, produced 45 valid hits. I think, the search engine here needs some kind of tune-up.

I checked the version and it's up to date (version 4.2). The camera is a canon rebel xt (300D).
Thanks for the the responses,
Jon

Jon,
Maybe you could give us step-by-step how you are trying to get your RAW files into the Organizer.

Jon,
Sometimes the software of the camera maker interferes with ACR. If you installed the Canon software, uninstall it and see if that helps.
On the other hand, you can use the Canon software to download the images or, of course, Windows Copy and Paste.

I come across a number of posts whereby owners of Canon cameras have problems downloading RAW images. It's a very obscure issue because as a Canon owner who only uses RAW I've never experienced this problem. I mostly download using a Card Reader but even directly from the camera has never been an issue for me.
Way back there where some issues with the Communications settings in the camera that could cause issues. I think the Rebel and Rebel XT (300D and 350D) had two choices - Normal and PTP. One worked and the other didn't. On later versions (XTi/400D) this changed and there is no setting to choose from.
Since you have the XT/300D you could look at the Comms settings and see if you get better results with a different setting but a card reader is a better option.

Thanks for everyone's help:)
I tried using Canon's software but this didn't work either. I ended up using a card reader to download the raw images.
Thanks again,
Jon

Just wanted to add that I have a Canon Digital Rebel XTi and I've just upgraded to PSE 6.0. I had no problems downloading in 5.0 - but 6.0 would only download 50 (jpeg and RAW) out of 250 photos before I received the error message that it couldn't download any more.
Tried a few more times, made sure I had the correct update etc. but I had to resort to the card reader too.
Looks like it's something that requires attention from Adobe.

...Looks like it's something that requires attention from Adobe...HERE (http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/mmform/index.cfm?name=wishform) is Adobe's bug-reporting form.
