Downloading Pics

Hello All,

I have a question about downloading my pic's from my camera to my hard drive. I remember reading somewhere that I should download them to JPG and immediately burn them to a CD. If I do this, can I them open them up as TIFF's and manipulate them? If I later need to get an original copy from the CD will the image quality deteriorate everytime I download from the CD?

Hi there ...

Best way is to download them from your camera to your PC and then save them just as they are. Jpgs do indeed deteriorate but only when you resave them ... and even then you will not see any difference in a couple of saves.

Simply opening and closing them will change nothing on the image .... so the workflow you outline is just fine :) Only thing I would suggest is that you use Psd instead of Tiff.
