what do the tutorials refer to when they say to use the left or right bracket keys??????

To enlarge the size of a brush, pencil, eraser etc you can use the bracket keys [ ] on your keyboard to make them smaller or larger. Saves grabbing the mouse and changing the size the regular way. :)

You can add Ctrl+- and Ctrl++ for resizing the window.
