I am trying to get a black and white scarecrow clipart image. When I save as(jpeg or bitmap), then transfer to PSE it gets very blurry when I enlarge it. It first shows up so small you can barely see it. I also have tried to copy and paste, but there is no paste option when I get back to PSE. I know there is probably an easy way to do it. Can someone help?

Where did you obtain your clipart? I am guessing this is something you picked up off of a website?

It is blurry because it is a small, low-resolution image. When an image is very small you can get away with low resolution (low ppi) and it looks OK at that small size on your computer screen.

When you try to enlarge it, the lack of pixels per inch is what is making it unsatisfactory in Elements.

I don't use clipart but someone that does will no doubt be along to suggest sources of high resolution images.

You can find scarecrows here.

http://search.yahoo.com/search?p=scarecrow+clipart&fr=yfp-t-104&toggle=1&cop=mss&ei=UTF-8

http://www.kidsturncentral.com/clipart/scarecrowclipart.htm

1. If the image is too small drag it into a larger and higher res document.
2. Scale it the size you want.
3. Using the eye dropper tool select one color at a time and replace using he magic wand.
4. Using the magic wand select and replace all the lines and colors while in this higher res document. Thin lines can be retraced with the pencil tool. The new replacement data will take the new res. This will give you the art you want.

Hope this helps

I recommend Microsoft Clipart Gallery. Here is a link to the scarecrows:

I got to the microsoft clipart page, but now I am stuck. Do you copy and paste, because I was unable to do that. I also placed the one that I want in my microsoft works clipboard, but was unable to transfer it to PSE. I got an error message saying it was the wrong file type.

You have to download it from the Microsoft Clipart Gallery. When I download it my computer places it into Microsoft Clip Organizer on my C drive. I'm using Windows XP and Microsoft Office so your computer might be putting it somewhere else? Anyway at that point it opens the Clip Organizer automatically with thumbnails of the images I downloaded. Then I right click and copy the image to paste into my PSE document. I hope this will work for you...

It worked to use the clipboard in microsoft. I was trying to right click and paste on PSE, but there was no paste option. I finally found it up in the toolbar. Thanks a lot!!
