The PSE3 help says I can add "photos and video clips" to include in a web photo gallery. Yet when I try to include a video clip (Quicktime), the photo gallery tells me it only supports photos. Am I doing something wrong?
Thanks. Dusty

Dusty,
PE3 only supports photos. You can add a frame from a video clip using PE3 - but not a video clip itself. You can watch video clips in the Photo Browser and grab frames to include as photos.
The PE package for video is Elements Premier, although I don't know whether you can use it to create a web gallery that includes video... My only experience of including video on web pages & galleries is with packages like Dreamweaver.
One thing is for sure, you can't do it with PE3.

While the organizer part of PSE3 is a wonderful program in lots of way I is a compromise. It falls between an all encompassing product and one that is easy to the targeted audience. If you have specific need there are more sophisticated programs that will help. In your particular case ProShow Gold will do what you want.

Grant, I downloaded the demo of ProShow Gold and I found no option for burning the slideshow to a DVD. This is one thing that would be very important to me since some folks I know don't have a (gasp) computer to watch a CD but they do have a DVD player.
I really don't want to burn VCD's so did I just miss that option for DVD's ?

On the main tool bar the seventh icon from the left is "DVD Disc". Also on the main menu go to > Create > Create DVD and if all else fails the short cut is Ctrl + D

Grant, perhaps i'm not remembering correctly but the original Pro Show and freebie trial didn't have that option...once you pay you can go to the update page and install the updates..which then gave you the DVD burn option. Like I said...i thought this is how i remembered it...not absolutely positive tho.
Foxhound,
This 'IS' the best slideshow creator for home theatres !!! I LOVE IT !!! Definietly worth the purchase !

Ok, in the creation of the DVD is there a dialog page where you can set up the theme of the show with different templates? Can I create scene selections like movie DVD's do? I can do all this with Premiere so I'm wondering if it's worth the extra money to purchase ProShow

Grant, Jodi, or anyone who knows....
I've used a couple trial softwares to put slideshows on CD to autoplay on a computer. They also had the option of choosing to burn the cd to play on a DVD player but the resolution on TV was awful. On Proshow (or Gold) can you burn a slideshow onto CD to play on a DVD player and does is have good resolution? (I don't have a DVD burner...maybe i just need to break down and get one.)

kerriann, i don't have a dvd burner either....so far I've only done shows for web...here is a screen shot of pro show gold...note all the settings on top...plenty to do with this ! By the way, i was told a while back that images needed to be 100ppi for tv viewing and not 72.

Thanks Jodi,
Maybe it's that "Video CD" choice I need up there.
Wonder if that's only on the Gold version or on the regular too. I know it takes Gold to do DVD.
But....isn't video cd what PSE3 is supposed to make, and people don't like that?
I think I did redo a slideshow using the higher resolution for TV and it didn't work either. Tired of wasting so many CDs. Maybe I'll try something new the next time I need to create another slide show from a theatre production.

kerrianne, I'm in a big rush right now....but I'll try and look into that video cd for you as soon as i get back. It probably is vcd format...for those of us who do not have a dvd burner :( 8) vcd is just a fancy disc word for vhs....we all remember how crappy those look compared to DVD.

meant to say...i haven't had the program that long and haven't really have much focus time to check out all these settings !....story of my life !

Thanks Jodi, but you don't have to delve into this vcd mystery just for me, it's not that big of a deal. And it will be a month before I need to even think about it. May I'll just try out the "15 day trial" then, since my other demos will have expired and I'll either have to buy one or try out a new demo! :lol:
Thanks for all your help!

I would be interested to know how anyone gets on with VCD and DVD. I made a VCD with PE3 today and was pretty disappointed with the results. :( As Jodi said, it does seem like comparing VHS to DVD :( :(

let's ask Dave to have a DVD burner as one of the challenge prizes....and have 'everyone win !' ( well, to those of us who don't have one ) lol I see Dave now....with those eyes at me....sorry Dave ;)
OK...looked into the ' Video CD ' and these are the output choices;
VCD
CVD
SVCD
XVCD
XSVCD
the the other that says just 'Video';
all the same as above including
DVD
All PC qualities
then the dvd icon of course is just that.
I do have to go back and look into this a little further....so I'll keep you posted. At the moment I have a DVD player that 'will' play CDR's only. I will have to do some test burns and see whether image size does make a difference. Ya, not all DVD players will play computer discs...tho the newer ones are definietly getting on the bandwagon.

oh and I also found this but I wont be going there tho;
Additional features activated when Premiere Elements is installed
If you are considering buying Photoshop Elements 3.0 (PSE3) or spending the additional $30-40 to get the Photoshop Elements 3.0/Premiere Elements 1.0 (PRE1) bundle, buy the bundle! Most digital cameras also shoot video and having the option to create movies and burn DVDs to share using both images and video is pretty tantalizing. To tempt you further, if you purchase the bundle, there are features in PSE3 that are 'activated' when PRE1 is installed. For instance, in addition to the ability to burn your creations to a VCD (video compact disc) you will be able to burn your creations to a DVD with a menu.

If you have the new PowerPoint it will burn an autoplay cd for you. Its simply a slide show, but should work for most people. Also, there is a free download from Microsoft call Photo Story that will burn to a cd or you can email a slide show with music or voice in the background. Visit this link: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/digitalphotography/photostory/default.mspx
Good luck.
