Has anyone made available a layer mask action for Elements 6? The only place I know of is Graffi's site, but it's no longer available. I've tried using a couple of the actions made for version 5 but the folder structure is different in 6 so I'm not sure where to put it or if they would even work once installed.
Thanks!

Graffi is going to make some action packs ready later this week. I think they are going be for 6.0 also.

I have made my own and it works fine but it's a lot easier to use Graffi's as they self-install in the right location (and I do have Graffi's installed and he's made it real easy :)). So I'd recommend waiting for Graffi to post them again (or send him an email or PM).

I already have a layer mask I use in PSE 5 do you know where it should be installed in PSE 6.

Gary: If you just want a layer mask with no thumbnail put the .atn file in C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Adobe\Photoshop Elements\6.0\Photo Creations\photo effects (that's for Windows XP - I don't know about Vista but you can always check to see where one of the photo effect .atn files that comes with PSE6 is - Blizzard.atn for example). It will show up under Photo Effects "Show All" and you can add it to Favorites. If you want thumbnails and a separate category it's more complicated and your best bet would be to get Graffi's action pack.

I tried that but it doesn't show up.
I am using windows xp.
Is there something else I need to do to make it appear?
or could you give me the more complicated solution.

Try this method for creating elements layer masks. The tutorial is for elements 3 but it works for 2,4 & 5 as well. Hopefully it will also work in elements 6.

Tony;
By trial and error I discovered that I did as you have now discussed.
At first I thought it didn't work until I looked under show all.
I was hoping I could put it in the layers drop down as I could in PSE5, but I was unsuccessful.

Gary: It can be done but it's trickier than PSE5 and I haven't yet figured it all out. Graffi's approach that automates the whole thing is going to be the best way to go. That makes it very easy to do.

Works like a charm for Elements 6. Thanks for the attachment, Eddie!

Here's a link to About.com's free layer mask and it works just fine. I've used it since PSE3.
