Good Morning boys and girls. It's hump day again. :)

As always this assignment is open to EVERYONE who is reading the forum.
We had so many participate last week, I need to take a moment and say Thank You!
Everyone did a wonderful job! I hope this week we get as many students.

Remember.... if you see an image that you like. Please let your fellow students know about it in the comment thread. Everyone likes a pat on the back.
Have Fun!!

There is no right or wrong way, get in there and play.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This weeks homework assignment is brought to us by Denise. She told me about this a few weeks ago and I have to admit, I am using it on almost every image that I process. :D
Ctrl J to make a copy of your image.
Change your new layer to a black and white image.
(remember to use a levels adjustment on your image after you have removed the color)
Now change the blend mode on your black and white layer to soft light.
That's It!
Turn the eyeball off on your black and white layer and look at the difference.
Don't you just love it? Turn it back on and post your new image.
Here is the link to this weeks comment thread.
I'm going to post early this time because I think I was the last one to post on the previous challenge and I never got any feedback to whether I was doing it right or not.
Here is a picture of one of my cats. Such intensity.
Soft Light version:
here is mine...
My neighbor Grace was kind enough to let me snap a few images of her yesterday. :)
I find it also darkens your background.
An interesting, easy technique. The starting image is on the top:
I used the eraser on the eyes to bring back the original blue. Don't want those baby blues to look too dark :)
I just had to play one more time,
After all was done (per instructions), I converted the image to a tinted B&W (Graffi's Action).
What a good effect. It seems to make the colors pop.
I had even edited the original photo :o the colors seem so much richer with this method. Thanks Kimi! As always, greet technique! Thanks for sharing.
Some pictures showed no difference or even darkened too much. This one was better but I'm going to try more photos using this effect.
Thanks for another new technique!
I haven't posted any homework for weeks!
This technique made a big difference in this photo:
Newbie here, trying my first homework. I wasn't sure exactly what I was supposed to adjust on my levels, but I did an adjustment and it looked better to me. :o I tried to insert the pictures from pixentral but kept getting "invalid." They're small - anyone know what I might have done wrong?
My precious darlings look great no matter what I use to enhance their photos. Okay, okay, I'm just a tad biased and a very proud nanna:):):)
Definitely made the image 'pop'.
Because I played Hooky for two weeks, I figured I'd better try to get on Kimi's good side and go for extra credit. :D
I wanted to see what this would do for a sketch...
http://www.pixentral.com/hosted/1TfoHjckxDwpaJsqEmCH1VemI3Gu960_thumb.jpg (http://www.pixentral.com/show.php?picture=1TfoHjckxDwpaJsqEmCH1VemI3Gu960)
I used one of the common techniques to convert to a B&W sketch and then applied a sepia filter. Then I applied the short and sweet homework routine. I think it added that "little bit of extra".
Lots of possibilities with this one -- thanks, Kimi, it is a good one.
Another following what I hope is Denise's directions. Hers looks much better.
thanks for this week's creative hw kimi and Denise :)
I applied your techniques (and colour 392916) to an image of an old sign, then I played around some more - another colour fill mask (same colour but normal blending) then revealed the image through painting on the mask with the 'whacko' brush - I spent ages trying lots of different brushes, fun :)
I got an added benefit this week, Kimi,
I was asked to take some pictures of our Teen Choir this weekend. I found this worked well on some of them. I remembered Denise's trick of 2-clicks for more red and more blue.
Nothing fancy; snapshot quality at best, but homework provides a nice pop.
Rusty
PS - these boys aren't dumb; they know where to find the cute girls :)
