From a gas to a solid ... this week's theme is wood, or something made of wood.

ok, I'll start. Looking down into a stack of firewood. Added some nice cool blue to it.

Here is detail on an old Sheraton table, a burl wood inlay. The ambient light from the window casts an annoying glare, but I'm going to say they are stage lights. Sitting on top is a lady familiar to some, used in a past challenge. I think it was Porcelain Lady Figurines with Plastic Flower Hats. Is that correct Bill?:)

I had posted a picture of an old covered bridge here. It was driving me crazy because the picture was so dark, and it really didn't even look good with a black and white tint. Then I read kevq's post about making dark photos pop. Here is testimony that it really works. I was really surprised at the results.

Wooden steps along a trail in a Maple Wood. I did take it for the leaves and not for the wood but I figured that would be close enough to the theme ;)

This was in the same park as the covered bridge. More old wooden buildings than neon around here.

Nope, not a piece of wood around for miles... :D
A mossed tree trunk in the end stages of it's natural life.
I experimented with flash along with the theme, thinking I could avoid hauling a tripod into the woods. Still prefer the tripod and higher ISO for a more natural look (minus the flash "sheen" and heavy shadow).

Also trying out Pix Central, Image Shack has gotten a whole lot worse with the pop-ups. Sorry for putting you through that.
Do our photos just float around out there until Pix Central deletes them or is there a spot to open an account and have everything you've posted displayed and under your control?

I don't want to dissapoint, so this is not my real entry. :D
I took this in the summer at an art festival thing. The jacket is all wood.

Gary beat me in posting an image??? No way!!! How long have I been asleep???
This is our company's logo that hangs on the wall in our lobby. It's made completely of wood and weighs a ton! (Not literally but it is very heavy!)

This is the second time I posted the Brancusi model I found in my firewood pile. i know it was here around 6:00 pm PST but the site seems to have had a problem since then. Hope it's not posted twice.

Well, here's my wooden object for the week (we saw these "mushrooms" at a local botanical garden, & my nephew "carved" it out of a tree that had died in our yard).

Came across this little bundle of wood today - sure looks like a teepee frame. They are cheating a bit if you notice the devised prop on the left side. Still, it is kind of neat.
I've encountered these at this popular off-shore fishing spot throughout the summer so perhaps someone is practicing. My other thought was that it may eventually become quite a bonfire!
Today I was doing the practice with a circular polarizer; looks like it might have been off to the right side of the lens instead of the top, doesn't it? Man I'm having trouble seeing the effects of that thing through the lens. :D

This is one of my favorite woody places, especially when the sky is as nice as it was yesterday.

This is my first chance to join in. Next time no date on the picture, that is way too annoying! This is a bench on my deck made out of a tree trunk and branches. The wood flower next to it was a added bonus.
