We're off and running again with some really fine images.
Rob - The firewood looks great ... I wouldn't have thought to use a blue tint, but I like it a lot!
Garry - I can understand why it's the most photographed building ... it's beautiful.
.... used in a past challenge. I think it was Porcelain Lady Figurines with Plastic Flower Hats. Is that correct Bill?:)
Quite the memory Steven! I think that was theme # 38.72. The burl wood looks great and the figurine gives it a wonderful splash of color. Now take the table back to the Sheraton before they miss it.
Bamagirl - They're both great and your treatment fits them well. (Thanks for the reference to Kev's post. I missed and was glad to have a nudge to go back and check it out!)
Tony - What a wonderful shot! Autumn has certainly arrived for you. Nice image.
This has been a great first day of images ... keep 'em coming!!

The jacket is all wood
NO IT'S NOT !!
That is truely amazing work, wow! I wouldn't have believed it from the image had the artist not left some of the wood tones showing in the jacket. Incredible... thanks for including it Gary.

He had a few "hanging" around. Simply amazing work. I can't recall the asking price but most of the suff there was way out of my price range.
I did learn one thing though. I like pottery/clay type things and some sculptures as opposed to pictures.

I would love to have been at that show! I'm certain I wouldn't have been able to afford any of it either but it's so fun to see it.
I'm with you with pottery and sculpture as well; a fairly new interest for me only the past few years. If you have the right combination, what is really nice is a clay sculpture or pottery next to a picture - it can be so gorgeous. Haven't found my combination yet but now with my interest in photography it would be great if the picture was one of my own - someday!
Did you get any pics of the clay pieces by any chance? Would love to see a couple of those; maybe you could post a couple in your gallery if you did.

I think Pixentral has a last time viewed time limit. Something like 30/60/90??? days since last viewing it will be removed.:)
Hardly any other pictures.. it was "fish" week for Bills photo challenge so I just took a few of those.

Gary - I have to agree with Pat on this one.
Not only have you posted right in the middle of everyone instead of being the last to post your image, but now you're posting a picture of your "Fonzie jacket" and trying to pass it off as wood? Really, Gary, are there no depths to which you'll sink?

I didn't follow the rules for that post, so it doesn't count.
I went out Sunday to a local train museum so I will go over some shots from there and post one of those. Hmmmm .... maybe before Saturday???

Julie,
As much as I enjoyed Gary's picture, I have to admit I've been wandering around the house ever since with my brain a scrambled mess because it's only Monday!

My name is not Julie. And I think this is the SECOND time you've done this. :D Now, understandably, the names Kim and Julie do look very similar in appearance, and your brains have been scrambled by Gary's refusal to follow the rules.
But.... say it with me slowly..... K... i...m...
There you go - not so hard. Gary! I blame you for this!

OMIG Julie....err I mean Kim - where in heck am I getting that name from???
I'm so sorry, in all seriousness - I'm a little worried about myself since I can't blame the first time on Gary. Good grief, it's not like your name isn't obvious within your user-name!
I promise to keep my wits about me a little more - sorry, again! :o

Lilly - oops! I mean, Pat, it's no big deal that you did that. As a matter of fact, I think it's hilarious, plus it just gives us something else to blame on poor ol' Gary!
The other time, you accidentally called me Linda. I really believe Gary was to blame for that, too! ;) (somehow)
Gary - you'd better straighten up!

I may have started all the misnaming by glaringly mistaking Blueberry Bert for some one else. For that I am eternally sorry.
Gary's rule breaking will I'm sure be ignored by the PTB because it's so amazing a thing and that there are no PTB.
kim2900
October 1st, 2007, 11:33 PM
Ellen and Lilly - oops, I mean, Pat, I think Gary is still somehow at the root of this whole misnaming fiasco!
But, Ellen - I'm sure Blueberry Bert forgives you;
and I forgive Lilly, and Gary will still be the last one to post his picture, and all will be right with the world once again! :D

:D:D to the last female and male who posted to this thread. (don't want to mention any names for the obvious reason  )
I LIKE "Lilly" :D - hilarious! Wonder if I can change my user ID?

October 3rd, 2007, 10:27 PM
Lilly - you have my full permission to adopt it as your new user I.D. ;)
As for me, I'm torn between "whatshername" and "whozits." They both have a nice, lyrical quality about them. Thanks, Gerry, oops, I mean Gary for the suggestion.
And we'll know what day it is if you post on the same Sunday the challenge comes out. It will be forever known as "the day hell froze over!"

Nice variety of images with this week's wood theme. Envy those of you with interesting structures to shoot in your vicinity.
Tony, I love your wooden steps and the natural feel to your image. It's a beautiful composition and belongs in your gallery.
Speaking of your gallery, it is lovely... and the most recent cat image is just precious. Steven - have you seen this?

These are again a nicely varied and impressive bunch of photos. From swell old buildings and bridges and piers to signs and Gary's amazing wooden clothes. (I guess you really could say you were months early for the theme and really confuse us all.) Lisa, I like your door detail a lot.
Steven, I've taken soap but gosh... (I would marry the figurine in a heartbeat if only the legislature would get back in session and deal with my issues.)
Pat, or maybe Lilypat, on the beaches here people make stick piles like that too, I've always wondered why.

The people who make the stick piles are hiding nearby, camera in hand. While we photograph the sticks, they are photographing us.
They've looked ahead to Photo Theme #500..."People taking photos of piles of sticks."

Ok.. lots of wood at the train place. I'll dig up another.:D

Steven, I've taken soap but gosh... (I would marry the figurine in a heartbeat if only the legislature would get back in session and deal with my issues.)
Ellen? You would marry my figurine if it were legal? And I would still marry neon (if it were legal), though I want to marry the concept of neon. I haven't yet found any particular neon to settle down with. Perhaps a double ceremony, where Norm Dicks and Rick Larson could attend? But I would also be obligated to give away the figurine, since it is mine.
This is perhaps the oddest photo comment thread I have seen! I think I will join in with the chorus blaming Gary for posting early. It has just thrown everyone off.:D

And on top of all the other strange comments in this thread, Lorri went ahead and gave away the topic for #500. Now I've got to think up a different one.

Bill is just trying to throw you off by threatening to change the schedule. It would send his whole plan into chaos--just look what happened when you posted early.

Hey, Bill,
When you get lots of "strange comments", that just means that you did a great job with the subject idea.
Or... maybe it means you just have the usual strange people participating.

Of all that Gary has affected he's ok on his cool snow removal thing; bamboo is a grass like Rusty said but it's a woody grass.
Is this really just Thursday? I'm getting dizzy.

Beautiful, Gary,
I'm glad I challenged your grass, otherwise we would have missed this one.
Great job handling what I am sure was a DOF problem.

What they do at this place is restore old streetcars or at least electric trains (which in these parts tend to be streetcars). They have purchased or aquired about a mile of an old line and they run the restored trains up and down the line. A nice place to spend some time.
And they have done a great job on the cars they have restored.
