Hi Everybody,
Yesterday I was browsing pbase.com when I came across this gallery

I was just wondering how to make such a frame and this type of dreamy effect using photoshop elements 3
I am a beginner and don't know much about layers so can you please explain
it step-by-step.......
Which the beginners on this forum can follow and start making such good frames........ :)

HI.
There are a couple of tutorials in the subscriber section on framing. I can't remember the names of them right now, maybe someone else will pick up this thread also. One of them was the wedding template one.
Anyway, it looks like the actual background of the picture was used in the framing and perhaps a beveled wide stroke applied around the actual picture. Tim is really good at creating frames. Maybe he can pick up this thread.

There are quite a few different aspects to this image which involves some knowledge of the program. I can tell you that the black frame is really just a black background...if you duplicate this black background and apply a motion blur to it at around a 40 degree angle you'll see how the effect was achieved...first though you need to make your canvas larger than the actual black background...again there is more to it as the motion blur throws the motion in both directions so you would have to delete it on the opposite side... Then there was some tweeking at the edges ..the other layers are placed above with filters, shadows, bevels etc... I have in fact seen this effect quite a few times so I believe there is probably an action floating around somewhere...

Yup those are all seperate layers. to make those mat edges all you basically do is make a rectangular marquee selection around the inside of an image and delete it which leaves you with that outer edge...the bevel effect is then applied...under layer styles>bevels>try 'simple sharp outer'. The lines could be anything...could be a brush strokes filter or could be a 15 step process the user achieved...don't know. At this point we really don't know what program the artist used. All I can say is to experiment and create your own look...Elements has no limits. :)

Well, I tired to do one myself and here is the result.....
Although its not anywhere near to what I wnated but its not bad either.... 8)

I still couldn't get the broad border to look like its on top....
when I tried to do that a dialog box came up asking about discarding
all other invisible layers.......and when I did that while keeping the
other layers visible it asked to flatten the Image......Why so.. :?:
and couldn't find the brush used on it either.....
can you please tell me that from where can I download more brushes......:?:
And one moer thing can you jodi or anyone else tell me how can I
improve this image and How..... :?:

Hi there ...
For more brushes try here:

Don't worry about the brushes being for Photoshop as they do work in Elements :)
