Hi boys and girls. It's hump day again.

As always this assignment is open to EVERYONE who is reading the forum.
We had so many participate last week, I need to take a moment and say Thank You!
Everyone did a wonderful job! I hope this week we get as many students.

Remember.... if you see an image that you like. Please let your fellow students know about it in the comment thread. Everyone likes a pat on the back.
Have Fun!!

There is no right or wrong way, get in there and play.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This week we will start with a new document. 700 x 700 pixels
Find a decorative brush or use one of your shapes.
Stamp on a blank layer.
Ctrl click on the thumbnail of your image to get the marching ants.
Make a new layer and hide your stamped layer. (all you should have now are the marching ants)
Find the brush Corey introduced us to in the chalkboard tip.
Dry Media Brushes, Pastel Medium Tip, #29.
Stamp in various places in your selection.
Choose at least 3 or 4 other colors to add.
On my brushed image, I made a new layer and added a stroke, then lowered the opacity of the stroke layer. Stroke the outside. Merge down. Ctrl E.
Now show us your creation. Another note would be to duplicate your image and try some filters on it for different effects.
You can always hide your background layer and save it as a PNG for future use. :)
Here is my first try with one of the brushes from Reka's brush post this morning. Here is the link she posted. http://hawksmont.com/blog/category/graphic_design/resources/brushes/page/2/
i used a mixture of my own splatter brushes and ones downloaded from the internet. "sponged" the splatters, added texture, and then added a custom shape of a leaf. finished it off with some downloaded brushes.
Hi Pink! We missed ya.
I used part of my first one to make a scrap paper. My latest obsession. :)
I used an "Easy Elements Hearts" brush for mine and added a gradient layer background.
posting another, cause you can never have too much fun .. actually, i don't like this one as well as my first. i think the texture is a little too distracting, but i had already flattened the layer and couldn't go back, i hate when i do that. oh, and thanks for the welcome back, kimi .. it's great to be back in the saddle again, and working through your creative homework lessons :)
As usual, I'm loving it. I saw a little dragonfly on my way home from work, and I knew that I had this little dragonfly brush. Thanks Kimi. We really appreciate what you do.
Mine came out really different. I kept checking the directions to see if there was something I missed but I followed them? I used one of the amazing brushes that someone was so kind enough to share. (Skyline) Then I did the marching ant thing and filled it in with four different colors; white, grey, dark grey and red. The background that I added was paper from the “mega scrap” which had this weird little yellow dot on it. The dot kind of looks like the sun to me; which worked out nice for the city scape. I recently read a “how to make a grid” by W.Williams so I had to throw that in and then I used lots of different blending modes. Viola! Craziness! It was a lot of fun. I am going to make another one! Thanks Kimi! Oh yeah and I did a stroke on one of the layers as well. I had never heard of the stroke so when kimi mentioned it I thought I would give it a go and I love it!
Here's my first shot. I'm not real sure about it ... I may try another later. Very interesting concept Kimi ... I just have to make it work for me. Thanks for the brain teaser.
Tried to use a brush, but couldn't get an outline from it, so used the cookie cutter instead. Will practice some more. Toni
I used the brush to stamp the leaves in about 12 different layers, arranged them, them merged the layers. I loaded the selection to paint and loaded again on another layer to stroke but instead of applying a definite (2 pixel) stroke, it merely made the layer a shade darker.
This has been another fun technique to learn and use. Thanks, Kimi.
I'm with Toni (Aussie Nan)...I can't get the brushes to outline. I've tried with a variety of different brushes. All that happens is the layer itself gets selected. :confused::confused:
Any tips?
This is fun! I love the grungy look...I opted to skip the stroke - I was liking the suggestion of the shape on black...
Hey, Andie. Not sure where the vid is, but if you are just looking for that brush, it's the last brush in the default brushes set. Scroll waaay down and it's on the bottom.
HTH..
I will be gone AGAIN for a week. We are having a sort of bittersweet family reunion in Fairfax, VA to celebrate my mother's 80th birthday. We are all looking forward to being together, but I am suffering from withdrawal from PSE and PET!!! Andie
