View Full Version : Changing the creation date of (a lot of) files

Hi,

i just importerd my files in the orgainiser. Most of the files are sorted into the wrong time slot. Big mess, if I browse I have pictures from different years/events one after the other. Seems to be a Windows problem: copy several times and the creation date is overwritten...

Luckily, on my disk the files are in directories in historical order in the time I loaded. The filename contains the upload date.

So I want at least change the files in each directory to the date when I loaded the files. Two problems under Elementts:

So how can I select all (not only one) files in the directory and then set for ALL files a new (correct) creation date?

Hi Schorsch... welcome to the forums :)

You can select multiple files in Organizer...:

 To select photos at random, Hold down the Alt key and left clicking on the individual photos.

 To select all the images, or a sequence of images, hold down the Shift key, click on the first image and then on the last.

Once you have selected the photos, right click on any one of them and from the menu select "Adjust Date & Time". Choose the adjustment you want to make from the options in the window (e.g. "Change to a specified date and time).

Hope this helps...

Mike,

thanks. First problem solved.

Still, how do i find all files that belong to a specific Directory. I know when I have created the directory, so I caa set the file date to that of the directory and the pictures will be about right.

Once I imported the files into the the Organizer they are all under the same date. And that's thousands of them.

So what I need is a way to select all images that are stored on a specific directory on the disc and then run the "Adjust Date & Time"

Can I do this with Elements?

Cheers, Schorsch

Schorsch,

You could either view the pictures in the File Browser (in Editor got to File > Browse Folders), or in Organizer go to the bottom left hand corner of the screen and change the view parameter to "Folder Location".
