When importing from a camera and renaming using the <name>+"001" feature, is there a way to tell Elements to start as a specific number other than "001"?
I have a bunch of pics already and there are some gaps in the numbering from deleting. Elements wants to use the gaps but I'd like it to start at a higher number.
Thanks in advance.

Hi Moxie,
Welcome to the forums :)
Yes, you can do this...
I assume you are using Process Multiple Files..? Select the type of serial number you want (i.e. 1, 2, 3 or 4 digits) and then in the "Starting serial#:" box enter the number you want the renumbering to start at.
Let us know how you get on..

Is there a way to do this coming off the camera? Why isn't this option available in the Import from camera screen?

That's would be a useful option... but you can't change the default "001" start point in the Adobe downloader at present.
But you could use the Process Multiple Files function (in Editor > File) to do this...

That sucks. My typical work flow using another product was to import from the camera using Name001 and up. Say I added 100-110. When I got them into the file browser I would delete those I didn't want. The next time I would import, the software would start at Name111 regardless of the gaps.
Elemets wants to start at 001 every time and rename things 002-1 or fill in the gaps.
How do others import photos?
