I have a photo I need to get help on fixing. Is there a way to attach a photo here for people to see and help me with the adjustment I want to make. It would save a lot of time writing if this can be done.

Thanks for the quick reply.
I don't have the photo here at work so let me explain.
The photo is from a school newspaper and it is for an 8x10 but it will only show up with huge white borders on the left and right sides. I want the picture to take up the entire 8x10 but can't figure out how to do it. By the way it is a scanned image.
Thanks for your help.

Steven,
I may be oversimplifying things here, but is it just a case of resizing the image? It would certainly help to see the photo... can you do this later today?

Here is a picture with a similar problem I found online and uploaded to the site you suggested.

Ok... you're going to have to resize the image and then crop it to 8x10. I take it that you want to keep the proportions?

Yes, I would like to keep the proportions. Can you explain to me how to do this and will it still look good if I print it?

This can be done and maintain the quality... What size and resolution is the original picture?

Thanks for helping me Mike. I am sorry if my questions are simple but this is something I have never done yet. How do I check the resolution and the size? I will do it when I get home. Is there anything else you need to know. I believe I scanned it at 1200 dpi

Don't worry about asking questions - the forum is here is help people learn Elements no matter where they are starting from.
When you get home, open the photo in Editor then go to Image > Resize > Image Size and tell me what is in the boxes under "Document Size".
Post the information - I'll be on line...

Hi
Mike might have hit the sack by now, I"ll try to help if I can
It looks like your resolution is pretty good, the image size is going to be tough though..lots of cropping to make it an 8x10.
I would recommend setting the crop tool to 8x10 and see what you end up with before really messing wih the size to much..you don't have to crop, just see what you will lose.
The problem is, if you want to keep the proportons correct as well as the pesrspective you will have to make the width 8" instead of 5" which will in turn make the height 16" then you will have to crop out 6" to get it back to 10"..hope this makes sense. :)
If all looks doable then just go to Image>resize after cropping and type in your 8x10 in the image size box(es) do not check resample or any of the other boxes in the lower part
Check your resolution, it should have changed if it is 300 or so then you should be fine to print.
Do this all on a duplicate/copy of your original :) I have to say that to feel safe
Hope this helps till Mike wakes up.
Gary.
