I burned a CD of a creation and now cannot find the creation in Photoshop Elements 3. I must have moved it to the CD. Can I get it back onto the computer?

What type of creation did you make (i.e. slide show, album, calendar)?

Have you searched for it in Organizer under Find > By Media Type > Creations?

I had made a slideshow of our European travels with captions, music, etc. Luckily I do have the copy on a CD. I just tried to find it as you suggested Find>By Media Type>Creations. It is not there.

OK... but what you have on the cd will be in VCD or wmv format. When you make a slide show in future, save it as a Creation first (File > Save in the Slide Show Editor). That way you can go back an edit it later if you want to.

I always saved it while working on it. I labeled it as a creation and it was there until I made the CD. I think when I made the CD that it was removed from program. Is there a way to get it back so I can watch it through PSE3?

Burning it to cd won't have removed the creation from your PC. If you saved it as creation while you worked on it then it should be there somewhere.

Do you have Organizer set to one of the date view options..? If not then try that.

I tried Date View and it is not there. Is it possible when making CD, it was moved to the CD? If so, how would I get it back to computer? If I can't get it back, I guess I will just have to live with it on the CD and make copies for my friends. Of course, I can't edit it then.

Which brings another question to mind. It took a very long time to make the CD; is this normal? I also have been working on another slideshow of Italy photos we took. I did try to make a CD of that as well, but after several hours, it failed. Does the screensaver coming on while burning have anything to do with the CD burning function?

Thanks for your help.

Is it possible when making CD, it was moved to the CD?No... when you burn a slide show to cd, it doesn't delete the creation file. If it's not on your pc then either it wasn't saved properly or it was removed some other way.

If I can't get it back, I guess I will just have to live with it on the CD and make copies for my friends. You can make copies of the cd, but as you say you can't edit the slide show.

It took a very long time to make the CD; is this normal? How long it takes depends on the size of the slide show, the write speed of your cd writer, whether you are using cd-r or cd-rw discs... It will take a long time, but minutes rather than hours so something must have been wrong - maybe the cd-r disc. Burning a slide show will be quicker is you save it as a wmv file first and burn the cd using that.

Does the screensaver coming on while burning have anything to do with the CD burning function?. No... it's coming on because you haven't been using your pc (the mouse or keyboard) for a while. The time after which the screen saver comes on is in your desktop settings. Burning cds or dvds is a sensitive process and it's good practice not to run any programs at the same time. So you may want to disable the screen saver or set it to a longer period when burning cds.
