dear jodi:
i read your post re negative image in editor workspace and tried the solution of "ignore camera exif"as i have a similar problem to jess and my monitor is calibrated as my pictures in the organizer are correct.
any other thoughts?

yes, my next thought would be to delete the preference file;

hold down alt+shift+ctrl a half a split second after launching the 'editor' part of the program. A window will pop up askin if ya want to delete prefs..click yes. That 'should' cure it.

if you don't get the pop up window...try again...it's a quick three finger duo. Tho the preference file can be deleted manually from the files;
C:program files>documents and settings>application data>photoshop elements>3.0>editor>photoshop preferences elements 3.0>>> Delete this file.

jodi:i was able to get the delete "setting" file window to pop up using your instruction, but never a window to delete "preferences" file. i clicked yes, hoping i was doing the right thing and it did not make any difference in my problem.

what next?tom

Tom,

Thats is the right one :) ... even though it deletes the prefs file the box says settings.

Looks like that wasn't the problem :(

dr, sorry I haven't been back sooner....one more question....are all your images appearing in negative when you bring them into the editor ?

for some reason, the problem of negative images has gone away. could it be because i didn't restart the computer after deleting the editor preferences file? the other change is that when i launched editor after selecting an image in photo browser, i checked "ignore profile" when the window popped up stating"monitor profile medion md7319td/md7419tg tft-lcd monitor"appears to be defective. please rerun your monitor calibration software", whereas when i had the color image problem, i had clicked "use anyway".
more questions:how does one put text into stationery layout when inserting fotos into pse 3 email?
when i return from editor to photo browser after going from photo browser directly to editor but don't edit, a lock appears on the image in the catalog. how do i get rid of the lock and how do i prevent that from happening? am i doing something wrong by selecting an image in foto browser to edit instead of file browser?
