At present, most of my digital images are taken with my Pentax 555 and saved in their original .jpg format. Those which I have scaned from 35mm transparancies are in .psd and some I have in .tif format where I have done considerable editing on an original .jpg file.
Should I be converting my .jpg files to .tif? If keeping them in .jpg is saving at maximuim "12" any advantage over high resolution of "10" :?:
Thanks, Mike.

Personally, I like working intirely in PSD format simply because I never know when I may want to make a modification to an image using layers. Since you have the storage space to handle your tiff's then you have the same for your new PSD. Unless you keep your layers open the file sizes should be about the same. If I need a tiff file (for a stock agency) then I'll covert my PSD's but for being able to save layers for other sessions then it's PSD for me :)
If you are constantly opening and saving in jpeg format then your going to start losing image quality. Find some type of format (psd, tiff) your comfortable with and get away from editing in jpeg if you can help it. PSD and Tiff are lossless in their saving back to the disk.

If you images are saved in jpg there is no advantage to convert them into tiff or psd. If you decide to edit them then there are advantages and you should resave in either tiff or psd. While there are horror stories about saving as jpg the simple fact that the degradation of image quality with high quality jpg is more an academic lesson than reality. But on saving and resaving using jpg this become a real problem as the degradation is compounded. So best to resave in another file form.
