hi, I wanted to make a blank calander, how would I do this? I don't need the days, just the 31 boxes. Thanks Rick

hello, you'll need to make a grid pattern first.

Create a new document 100px X 100px > Ctrl+A >Edit>Stroke>1px,black,center>OK. The go to Edit>Define pattern.

Open your new document for calendar and then go to layer>new fill layer>pattern. Your grid 'should' be the first on the list....or sometimes last. Select it and move the percentage slider until the boxes are large/clear enough for your calendar project. Afterwards you can either paint black on the adjustment layer mask to remove the lines you don't need or simplify it first and then delete the lines you don't need.

Jodi,

I followed your instructions here about making the grid, but I'm not sure about what you were referring to by Deleting the lines after simplifying. Did you just mean to erase them, or is there another way to delete them.

Hi Dorrie...yup, if it were my project I'd make a rectangular marquee selection around the parts I want to keep and then do a 'select inverse' and delete the rest. :)

Thanks Jodi,

You always have so many tricks up your sleeve, and we all thank you for sharing them. I was actually thinking along those lines, but just wanted to be sure you didn't have yet another solution.

Dorrie, I tend to use the simple route with stuff like this. I can't be bothered with technicalities ;)

hi Jodie, I got to Edit define pattern and I click ok, I don't know what you mean when you say "open new document for calander" I thought I was still on the calander document. I did go to new document and then went to layer> new fill > patteren but there was no grid. I had the "Pattern name> Pattern fill 1 > opacity 100> mode normal". They were my only choices. Rick

Hi Rick...sorry about the confusion of opening a new document....my habbit is to create what I need first...create the tool first and then open the image I want to use it on...sorry 'bout that. But after you define the pattern you'll need to go to Layer>new fill layer>pattern....just click OK to this first window and then the pattern window will appear.... For me after I define a pattern it's generally the first one on the list but perhaps it's the last one on the list where you are....so if that's the case click on the little drop down arrow next to the pattern that's showing and look at the bottom pattern...should be the grid. Then go ahead and adjust the percentage slider t'il you get the size you want then click OK.
