Here (http://www.telegraphics.com.au/sw/)is a plugin which allows you to open PSP formats in PSE, including tubes, which one could use for brushes - OH NO, MORE BRUSHES!!!:D
Save the plugin under C:\Programme\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 5.0\Plug-Ins\File Formats and restart Elements. You can then open the tube files and define them as brushes. That opens up even more brush possibilities!!
The files will not show the association with PSE until you change it in the properties dialog box, but you can still open them in PSE.

Hi Hukari,
I'm sure this is a good thing but could you enlighten me as to what PSP and "tubes" are? I've definitely come across the terms before but don't have a clue... thanks!

PSP is Paint Shop Pro and tubes are somewhat similar to brushes, only they print in the original colors instead of hues of a single color like brushes. Sort of a combination of a stamp tool and a brush.
Here is a good explanation for you:

I would love to see something like this in PSE! Is there anything similar in CS3?

Reka,
I also have PSPX and really do enjoy using tubes. Could you please tell me which plugin you are referring to on that site that you mentioned in the first post? Tubes really would be great to use as brushes. I would also like to see them in elements. Haven't installed CS3 yet but I have heard of no mention of anything like tubes in it.
Thanks
Jancy

It's "Paint Shop Pro Format" about 1/3 of the way down the page. You can only use the tubes to define brushes, though, so don't expect multicolors.:(

Reka,
I am so glad you pointed this out, Not only to use them as brushes but just to be able to get them in E5 without opening PSP is fantastic, even to use as embellishments for scrapbooking etc... LOVE IT
Thank you again

Reka, thanks for the link. I just tried it and it worked perfectly. I downloaded some Picture Tube frames, and used them to frame a photo. Thanks again.

Will they work on PSE 4?

Gail, I would think so. Try it out. It will not hurt anything to try. It only allows PSE to recognize the file format.

Opening an old thread here!
I just downloaded the plugin for MAC and I am unable to get this to work. (to view tubes} Works great on my PC but no luck with MAC.
I've put it in plugins-no luck, tried in file format, no luck and deleted the db3 file both times to rebuild effects. I then get a long error message about plugins. Using elements 6 for MAC.
Any suggestions?

Just a thought.

Hi Kev Got this message from their tech support
"Hi,
My first suggestion is to make sure you're running Elements 6 in "Rosetta" compatibility mode (try Get Info on the application).
My second suggestion is to try the CS3 version of the plugin:
http://telegraphics.com.au/sw/dl.php3?file=PSPFormat-1.3b1.dmg
I now tried the CS3 version
I tried it in my file formats folder. When I am in E6 I do file, open, get to where they are located and there are no thumbnail views but I am able to click on it and they do open but I really haven't a clue what I am getting until I see it in Elements. I also tried it in the plugin folder and it's the same. No thumbnails prior to bringing it into elements.

I tried one of the downloads for mac first, then the one for CS3-- I didn't notice a few of them? I have to look again.

Jancy,
I use Windows.
I save all my downloade tubes to a file on my desktop, some come in as a thumbnail and some just as a white blank. I open either in 6 and it comes up as an image this I then save as a PNG file if I think it's worth saving.

I just may have to do that with the mac. But not one shows as a thumbnail in the MAC. All my tubes on the windows PC show up as thumbnails.Makes thing a lot easier. Oh well sounds like a long project for a rainy day!
I asked tech support about the thumbnails and I'll see if they have any suggestions.
Thanks so much Kev. :)

Kev
Just received this from tech support
Hi,
That's a Finder function - there may be an extension out there. If I had a little more spare time, I should make one.
Very glad the plugin works for you now.
regards,
--Toby
I don't quite understand what that means but I am assuming that I will not be able to view the thumbnails??
