View Full Version : problems with title templates

I'm very new to video editing-- by very new I mean I'm working on my first project. I have Premiere Elements 3 and despite enormous ignorance, I've managed to edit my first movie. Everything seemed fine, until I previewed the title template on a full size screen. (I have a very large computer monitor). Anyway, the template and the text are fuzzy. The movie looks ok, maybe the resolution is a little off, but nothing like the template. I thought some settings were just wrong, but nothing seemed to make it better. Then I checked the tutorial and found that the template used there was also fuzzy on my computer. So, are the templates just not designed for large computer monitors? Do they look that bad on a TV? Any help would be appreciated, but be kind, I already know that I'm totally ignorant.

Hi and welcome. Sorry I can't help with you question but thought I would welcome you and bump your post back up to the top so it can be seen and possibly answered.

While I still think about this one, I have some questions:
What size is your computer monitor and what is your screen resolution (pixels) and color quality sets?
Have you tried several of the title templates and had the same problem, or is it one specific title template that you are having a problem with?
What are you creating? DVD-VIDEO? If so, what does it look like on the TV/DVD player. Also what program are you using on the computer to view this DVD-VIDEO, if that is what you created?

Thank you very much for the reply. I have a very large monitor--I think about 25 inches across. As for the pixels, sorry, I am ignorant--I don't even know how to check that. I am making a DVD video and have tried all the templates provided with my Adobe PE3 software plus some templates from muvipix. They all seem blurry; some are worse than others. However, I checked over that link you posted and it helped me understand the situation a bit better, I think. I thought that by previewing the DVD Menu on full screen, I would be seeing what it will look like when it plays on a TV. But from the article you posted, it seems that I might be wrong about that. I guess, I will have to just burn the DVD to find out... unless you have any additional suggestions before I do that.
Thanks again!

My suggestion for this stage is to take a test mini version which includes one of these title templates to DVD-VIDEO and see what is looks like on the TV/DVD players.
Just curious about your computer display settings...if you go to Control Panel/Display/Settings, what is the Screen Resolution set at?
Depending on your results with test burn to DVD-VIDEO, we can plan additional strategy.
