View Full Version : buyer beware

I purchased a ce from Keyko called 101 video lessons - photoshop for ditital photographers.

Received it yesterday. What a complete waste of money. While the video they show has a little tutorial, I thought it was just a mini version of what was available on the cd. It turns out that it was the lengthiest video. The rest of the cd consists of clicking on one photoshop filter after another hearing the narrator say, "the filter is mapped, click ok to validate". He moves onto the next filter.......says the same thing. Not one explanation of any of the sliders to control the filters, etc. You are just told to select the settings you want and you mindlessly sit there and watch him go through every photoshop filter!! The same is true for each of the tools.

It is the worst I have ever seen and should have saved my money and just stuck with the valuable information I get from this forum and the tutorials here. Just wanted to warn anyone else out there who thought this looked like a good buy.

Pauline,

Thanks for the heads up. Can you return it for a refund? :x

No. They've offered to send me another title in exchange. What would be the point of that? I was told they had many satisfied customers, and I told them that I hope they printed up my review! The thing is pathetic and from the look of it made by beginner looking for some money. The guy didn't even pronounce the work gaussian right! (unless Dave Cross and Matt say it wrong all the time. ) I could smack myself for being so stupid.

It sounds like the rest of the titles are marginal at best. Nothing to write home about? Don't beat yourself up. I've bought my share of duds along with everyone else. :(

On the bright side, we have this wonderful group here. Lets meet for coffee some afternoon on Pixel Hangout and talk. A digital coffee clach. :D

Thanks for letting us know Pauline, if it's any consolation at least there's a whole bunch of users here that won't be buying it based on your experience, mud in their eye.
Cheers

Yes Spyder that makes me feel better. I guess now I've learned to that it's petty easy for the regular unqualified Joe to get a little equipment and set up a web site and do their own "training" DVD's. I could have done one 10 times better and I'm just a beginner. At least I didn't waste too much money ($25 Canadian).

Thanks Pauline. Sorry to hear of your experience. And I'll definitely steer clear of that name. I have to admit at times I've been tempted by those videos but haven't bought any yet.

And yes, as Spyder says if it's any consolation I too will be avoiding that name. It sounds like a real bummer from the way you describe it. Live and learn, eh?

Yeah really sounds like just a scam going on. Perhaps someone should create a listing of the ones to try and stay clear of?
