I have been using Photoshop Elements 3.0(with Windows XP) successfully for two years. A few days ago, I downloaded some photos from my camera as usual. Now, when if try to go into Quick Fix or Standard Edit, I receive the following message: "Adobe Photoshop 8 does not run under this version of the operating system. Please check the package minimum requirements for the operating system level necessary for this software." I am still able to go into the Auto Fix Window, however, and the Organizer works just fine.

As far as I know, I have made no changes to my computer that would cause this. (I'm rather un-computer-savvy.) Any ideas?

I'm guessing that one of your DLL files has gotten corrupted or gone missing. If rebooting doesn't fix it, you should probably just reinstall PSE.

This sounds like another problem that System Restore would help. Just use a date prior to the time the problem began.

System Restore? I see a "System Restore" under "System" on my Control Panel but I don't see how it lets me do anything other than turn it on/off and determine how much disk space to allow for it.

I went to "Add/Remove Programs" and saw that PSE3.0 has a repair option. I tried that but it didn't help. Do I need to remove the PSE and reinstall or just reinstall? Will this affect my photos?

Did I mention that I was un-computer savvy?!

Thanks so much for your help.

Wells82,

Go to Start--Programs--Accessories--System Tools--System Restore. Once there just follow directions. Be sure to select a restore point prior to the time your problems began. I have used this in the past and it has been quite beneficial. Any saved data will not be lost and the procedure is reversible if necessary. Hope this helps you.

Thanks Billd2! System Restore did the trick. What a great thing to know about. I think you have solved not only this problem but some future problems as well. Thank you, thank you.

Wells 82, I'm glad you solved your problem and yes System Restore is a useful procedure to solve a lot of different problems. Prior to installing any new programs I always insert a restore point just in case something unforseen happens.
