Does the combination of PS5 and Premiere elements 2.0 work well? I can't seem to put my slide show on a DVD. I save my slide show on wmv file, load everything on Premiere elements 2.0, preview the slide show. When I try to copy on a DVD, it says no media. I'm really confused. I have made several slide shows from PE4 to Premiere elements 2.0. What am I doing wrong???

I need a few more details.
(1) Are you trying to create a DVD-VIDEO on DVD disc, are in the Burn Dialog, and get the message "No Media"?
(2) If so, what type of DVD disc are you using, DVD - or + R, or other?
(3) Is your DVD burner being recognized? In the spot in the Burn Dialog where it says "Burner Location", do you have that set to the drive where the DVD is inserted? If you have more than one DVD burner, you may have it set to the wrong one (the one without the DVD disc).
Some remedies (depending on further details)..
Verify Burner Location
Insert DVD disc in drive tray even before you open Premiere Elements
In the Burn Dialog, hit Rescan to try to get the Ready message.
I have Photoshop Elements 3.0 and Premiere Elements 2.0, but I did tryout Photoshop Elements 5.0 and Premiere Elements 2.0, and that worked fine.
Let me know what happens.

Hi, After completing slide show, I click Output slide show.
*Burn to disk
*movie file .wmv
*slide size DVD-Ntsc 720x480
*save as windows media
Message box appears "writing to wmv file. I noticed that it stays at 0% for a long time. If I leave the program and come back, the 0% jumps to 36%, for example. After it saves to 100%, then it goes back to 0%. When I try to cancel the box, it doesn't respond.
Then I go to Premier elements and try to load the file and media, a box pops up an says "Add Media failure Error: File format not supported/one of the necessary components may not have been installed.
When I put the slide show under a different file, I can get it to load in Premier, but when I try to put it on a DVD, it says no media loaded. I am using DVD-R. I just want a DVD to play the slide show on a DVD player for the TV. I am putting the DVD to be copied in the right spot. What's your thoughts or hopefully a solution. As I'm going through the steps, it seems the problem is when the error box jumps up. A million thanks for your help on this. Rebeccav

My first idea is that you are having difficulties in the writing of the wmv by Photoshop Elements 5.0. Premiere Elements 2.0 needs the slideshow from Photoshop Elements 5.0 as the wmv. You are probably not writing the wmv based on your observations of erratic messages during that period.
Do you ever actually ever see your slideshow on the Premiere Elements 2.0 Timeline Video Track 1/Audio Track 1 or is all black in the Monitor?
I suspect that the answer may reside in the content of this slideshow in Photoshop Elements (how many minutes, how many MB or GB, how many slides, pixel dimensions of your slides (do a check of typical photo, Photoshop Elements 5 in Standard Edit/Image Menu/Size). Is your computer optimized, defragmentation, shutting down programs running in background, etc.??
You may have been successful with your Photoshop Elements 4.0 and Premiere Elements 2.0 slideshows because the content was different and did not stress out the wmv writing process, smaller????
Do this for me. Highlight a jpeg photo in the Organizer. Go to the File Menu/Send to Premiere Elements 2 and see if you get the integration between the two programs in this simplest of tasks for the two programs.
Let us see how far we get with this approach. If this does not get us anywhere, we will go to plan C....

I did send a picture to premier and it showed up on the monitor and the timeline.
This is good news isn't it?? What next? Rebeccav

Next step is to do a test slideshow with a few photos, even with music and pan and zoom if you like. You should be able to use the File/Send to Premiere Elements when you are in the Organizer with the wmv saved there and highlighted.
If that works, then let us go into a lot of details to dissect the problematic slideshow to see what has to be done to get it to the "go" stage. Did you ever look at the pixel dimensions and file types of the photos that are going into this slideshow? JPEGs with resolution no greater than 1000 x 750 pixels.??
But, so far, sounds like progress. I will be watching for your results.

I have been busy at work and culdn' get back to you.
Well, I tried to make a mini slde show and it worked. I put 10 pictures on with audio and it went right to premier for coping to DVD. So what is wrong? The slide show I originally had trouble with was 17 minutes long. Over the week end ,I tried one that was 12 minutes long. Niether one of those saved. It goes through wvm save and when it's complete, it goes back to 0%. When I try to find the saved file, it isn't on the video file. It does save on the organizer but that is all. So, I have the slide show on the organizer but it won't go past that point. I don't work on monday so if you could get back with me, I would have monday to try to work a solution. thanks again for your help. Rebecca

I went back and read your last reply and I was wondering, how do I check the JPEG and resolution file size?? I am going to hunt around, but how do I do that? Obviously the bigger the slide show, the bigger the problem. If the picture size is too big, how do I get it down in size? I'm feeling sort of stupid ... Rebecca

I will be away from the computer from now until about 1 pm and will check back with you after 1 pm USA East Coast Time.
So far so good. Take one of the photos that went into the slideshow into the Photoshop Elements Editor. There go to the Image Menu/Resize/Image Size Dialog where you will see the pixel dimensions for the image (above it a number in M or K which represents file size of that image).
If you have that same image in the Organizer as a thumbnail and the image was saved as a JPEG and you go to Organizer properties for that image (right click thumbnail), you will see pixel dimensions for that image and its file size as the jpeg compressed version.
But, aside from the pixel dimensions issue, have you optimized your system-=Defragmentation, shutting down unnecessary programs running in the background, etc.?
With the 17 minutes version of your slideshow, how many photos do you have?

Hi, both slide show that wouldn't saved were all from scanned photos. I scan at High quality and when I checked the pixels, they were high. A photo from 12 minite show measured 6.17m. w 1799 pixels and h 1199 pixels. The 17 minute slide show had 201 pictures total and one of the photos were 9.92m w 2951 pixels and h 1175 pixels.
I did make 1 slide show from scanned photos and it worked but that was several months ago. I have deframented my computer within the last week. Took off unnecessary cookies. I usually have email and internet running in the background when I work on anything.
If the pixel size is the problem, can I change the pixel size of the photos? Do I have to change the pixel size picture by picture?
What is the right quality to use when you scan photos? I will be waiting for your thoughts. Thanks again, Rebecca

Resize Multiple Files With Photoshop Elements
http://graphicssoft.about.com/od/pselements/ss/processmultiple.htm
What Resolution Should Still Photos Be?

Remember the profile (with codec description) that you select for the wmv writing in Photoshop Elements is going to define sizing required for Premiere Elements. So, if you end result is a DVD-VIDEO generated by Premiere Elements, be sure to select the DVD NTSC or DVD PAL (depends on your location) profile before the writing of the wmv in Photoshop Elements.
The following is a good site for scan tips. The link below skips to one of its sections and is titled Image Resolution for the Video Monitor Screen
http://www.scantips.com/basic1c2.html
Start with these tips and see how you do in sizing down your photos and using them in your Photoshop Elements Premiere Elements slideshow. If I skipped anything, please post with further questions.
You need to reserve your computer resources for the project, so close any other open projects at the time.
I will be back later today.
