Moving organizer files from version 4 to 5

Hi Everyone. I am new to this forum and wanted to introduce myself. I am familiar with PSE, but not very advanced. I am about to install PSE 5 on my computer. I intend to also keep PSE 4 on the same computer. I need to know how to convert my organizer file from PSE4 to PSE 5. Does the program seach for all photo's like on original installation or what? Thanks in advance.

Hi Patty,
Welcome!
When you install 5.0 it will ask/tell you that it is converting/getting your catalog--after it's finished it will be the same as you had in 4.0. You can have both programs on your computer but you can only run one of them at a time.

Turn of your virus protection before installing 5. It was causing major headaches. You can turn it back on when you are done.

I went thru and cleaned up my Organizer before the change over. Deleted things and made sure every image was tagged. :D

I installed version 5 and none of my organizer files from vers. 4 were installed with it. What do I do now?

There is a question at some point about importing your catalog. You need to say yes. :)

I think you are talking about it opening your catalog, is this correct? Because the Organizer in both products are pretty much exactly the same. If your catalog did not open automatically -Open the Organizer-go to File-go to Catalog and hit Open--then direct it to where your "my catalog" or whatever you have named your catalog & it will open it. Unless I'm not following what you are talking about exactly.

Thank you. This time when I opened version 5 it decided to load the catalog by itself. I clicked ok in this window that popped up. Then it loaded. I don't know why this didn't happen before. Now I have all my files from my version 4 catalog.
