Very Frustrated Beginner:)

Hi all!
I purchased PSE 4.0 over a year ago & tried working with it but life got in the way so I threw it on the back burner!

Now, I'm back & trying to learn! I just purchased a new Canon Rebel XTI so I'm playing around with my photos in PSE:)

My question is - as stupid as it may sound! I have downloaded some excellent templates I would like to "play" with but I can not add my pics to them! How do "add" my pics to the templates?

When I have the template selected & try to grab a pic to add it automatically changes it to the "background" layer in the layers palette with nothing else in the layers palette.... am I making sense????

Any instruction would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, its sounds like you are not holding the mouse key when you are dragging and changing you active work space to the image you are trying to drag. Try this, one the image you want to add to the template, go upto the menu bar to Select>All then Edit>Copy. Now go to the template and Edit>paste. So if that will do it. It takes longer but it will help tell if you are just not dragging correctely.

When you are ready to try something more complicated with your template

Open your background paper

Open your template

Go to your background paper

select> all

edit> copy

Go to your template

magic wand - click on one of the boxes on the template

edit> paste into selection (not paste - "paste into")

before you do anything else - choose the move tool - size and move the photo with the bounding box -

when you are happy with placement
click enter or the checkmark at the top

Your photo and the box on the template will be "melded" at this point and cannot be changed once you choose enter.

I am in the same boat as you are in that I had purchased PSE4 more than a year ago and am only now getting to use it, and boy is the learning frustrating! But it is all worh it! :)

I do not mean to digress here but could you tell me where you got the templates from as I would like to play with them too!
