Hi,
I am just learning how to create animated gifs and super new to Elements. For some reason when I go into "save for web" and check "animation" it won't let me edit the "delay" or uncheck "loop". Any advice would be appreciated! I am so frustrated.
Thanks!

If you only have one layer then it those boxes are checked but grayed out. You need to have all the layers stacked for animation to work and those boxes to be active.

Thanks Tony. The weird thing is that the boxes are not gray, they look active. I was able to use all the other boxes. Hmm.

Try uploading this one to your computer and see if you can change the frame rate and loop:

If things still are not working and if you are familiar with Windows' folder and file structure, you may want to try resetting the Save for Web preferences.
In PSE5 they are located here:
C:\Documents and Settings\[yourlogin]\Application Data\Adobe\Save For Web PSE\4.0 (yes, it is 4.0!)
The file name is Adobe Save For Web PSE 4.0 Prefs and you should rename it to Adobe Save For Web PSE 4.0 Prefs.old.

Thanks Tony. I was not able to change the delay or uncheck the loop box.
Juergen: Thanks, I am on a Mac, but will see if I can figure it out.
Thanks!

I do not know if this will help, but here is how I do my animations with Photoshop Elements 3.0 with fairly high success.
This is the part after all the creating is done......
I go to the Save As Dialog where
(a) give File Name
(b) make Format "CompuServe GIF (*.GIF)
(c) make sure I check "Layers As Frames"
(d) then hit Save
Then the Save For Web Dialog comes up, all the desired options should be available and functional.

I am re-bumping this thread since I am having the same problem. I am also on a Mac and cannot change either the loop or the delay. Can someone please help me???
TIA
eta: Just found the answer. It's a bug in the program. Here's the link to the solution.

Bumping this up as the posted fix only works for 4.0 and not for 6.0 (you can tab in and change it but the image will always frame delay at .2 no matter what you put in)
I called Adobe and they confirmed this is an issue but didn't have a fix for it, just wondering if anyone found one.

Hi, you could try to work around this limit by useing the image twice, three times....if you want a longer time on screen.
I don't know if you can assign different times to images.
I use this when I want different times for images.
