Hi, does anyone know if it is alright to install PSE on two machines? I use it most of the time for creating scrapbooks for family and friends and for correcting pictures. I do a lot of babysitting for my grandchildren at their home and would like to be able to work on my projects while I am there when they are napping or otherwise busy. My son has a computer and I would be able to use it when I'm there. Is there any problem with this that you know of. I use PSE5 on my home computer--which I downloaded and paid for from the Adobe site. I have PSE 4.0 on a disk that I purchased sometime ago. Would it be acceptable to use 4.0 on my son's machine and 5.0 on my own? I don't want to do anything that isn't "kosher."
Thank you for your input.

Hi, Susan. If you have two licenses (PSE 4 and PSE 5) you certainly can install them as you describe (one version on one machine and the second version on another machine).

Susan, I bought PSE5 when it first came out and installed it on my desktop. A few months later I bought a laptop and installed it on the laptop [same CD].
I almost always do my PSE5 work on the desktop, it's a better machine, but I have done some work on the laptop.

I think the license actually says you can put it on more than one machine as long as you don't use them both at the same time. I'd guess that's to prevent more than one user from using the same copy of the software.

Yes it does:
From the EULA: 2.4 Portable or Home Computer Use. The primary user of the Computer on which the Software is installed may install a second copy of the Software for his or her exclusive use on either a portable Computer or a Computer located at his or her home, provided the Software on the portable or home Computer is not used at the same time as the Software on the primary Computer.
(This isn't terribly well drafted, because it clearly implies an unwarranted assumption that the primary Computer is an office machine, and then allows you to install it either at home or on a laptop as well. But if your primary PC is a home machine you're fine to put it on a laptop.)
There's no technical problem with installing PSE twice - I've done it myself as well.

Thank you all for the information. I'll certainly feel better now about installing PSE 4 on my son's machine so I can use it when I'm there with the girls.
I can always depend on the forum for good advice.

Hi ...
Have to admit that I have it on 3 computers ... my own, our intel iMac and the laptop. I need it on different systems for testing things and seeing that I am the only person who ever uses it then I think that is fair & OK :)

I have it on multiple computers also. Like Wendy, I'm the only one who knows how to use it ... and that is VERY questionable.:D

I now have PSE3 on my desktop and my laptop. I plan to purchase a new computer in a few months. Can I install the PSE3 on that without problems? (Once the new computer is in place I will no longer be using the older desktop).
Thanks!

As far as the license conditions are concerned, strictly you should uninstall it off the old machine before installing it on the new, but technically it will install on a third machine without problems.
At least, that would be true if the new machine was running XP - I'm not sure whether PSE3 will run under Vista. PSE5 has to have a patch applied.
