This may have been discussed before but my search didn't come up with anything.

I went to see who was online (Quick Links | Who's Online) and there are pages and pages of the same user Yahoo! Slurp Spider

That sure looks like someone trolling for email addresses. I sent an email to the web master but haven't received an answer.

I'm not sure, but I've always assumed those were search bots. Helps keep the search engines up to date.
I could never figure out why that one had so many though.

Be interesting to see what anybody in the know has to say.:)

If you view who's online:

http://www.photoshopelementsuser.com/forum/online.php

And go to the bottom of the page to the Display Drop down you can select just the Search Bots and see who they are and what they are up to. Scary - most of them a Yahoo! Slurp Spiders and they are following links. Personally I find Google much better for searching this site than Yahoo so why they need so many I've no idea - but search Google for Yahoo! Slurp Spider and you'll find lots of complaints - some sites report having 1000's of them crawling around - we've only got 40 or so at the moment .

Thanks Mary. To the rest of you guys, you confuse me, but then, it don't take a lot to confuse me:D "Yahoo! Slurp Spiders", I've never heard of it, but then, Google is my favorite search engine so why bother w/the rest.

It does seem odd. What's more worrying is that Mary and Bill and Lee are all at Photoshop World and the rest of us aren't. Hope you are having a blast and learn lots. I'm jealous.

I attended PSW last year and found it so rewarding I'm back. NAPP puts a fine (fine) agenda together. Today I had classes led by Matt, Ben Wilmore and Corey. There are six more classes tomorrow and four on Saturday. The tough part is choosing which ones to attend.

Some notes from this morning's keynote session:

1. Bert Monroy has joined the NAPP team. We should see articles and training from him on the NAPP sites .... hopefully many will be Elements compatible.

2. Adobe says PSE 6 will be out 'by the end of the year.' That's probably not a news flash, but it confirms some expectations.

3. Photoshop World 2008 spring show will take place in Orlando April 2-4. That may be good news for those in the Florida area.

If any of you go I hope you'll get a chance to meet up with other forum friends who are attending or live nearby. Having some time to meet LeeOtsubo and Mary over dinner last night was a high point. (Chas3stix was set to join us but transportation challenges got the best. Chas you were missed!) It's great fun getting to meet the folks we have gotten to know on the forum.

Bill: Thanks for the report. Gary and I saw Bert in action a couple of months ago in Toronto and he is indeed a photoshop legend and a welcome addition. I recall him saying he was the third person to use Photoshop ever, pushes it to its limits and invented a lot of the effects that you see being used. You can see some of the tutorials he did on TechTV a few years back here:

http://www.bertmonroy.com/tutorials/tutorials.htm

You'll see some familiar ones there - take a look at Start a Fire in Photoshop for example :)

Have fun. Wish I was there. And if PSE6 isn't out by Christmas there are going to be lot of about to be published books that will be gathering dust in warehouses ;)

Thanks for the info Bill. A lot of talk has been buzzing about the release of PSE6, now we know its true. Lots of folks here in the forum are buying CS3 but I think I will stick with Elements for now, I don't have time to learn another program. Glad you had a good time.

The closest I got to Photoshop World was having dinner with Bill and Lee at the Bellagio but that was REALLY worth it! It really did feel like we were old friends and I have to echo Billz's advice - if you get a chance to hook up with a forum member - do it - you will be so glad you did.

I'll add my name to the list of Jealous People Who Wish They Could Be There. When it comes west, I need it to come a little further west. And north.

Ah well...maybe some day...or maybe my school will need me to go to Orlando the first week in April...I can dream, anyway. :D

Have a great time, Bill & Lee.

Mike, I'm with you too. Being tied to an academic calendar makes attendence at virtually anything interesting impossible. LV is close enough for me here in So Cal, but can't leave classes for any reasons other then eminent death.... (Pout mode on.)
