Hi, new to photoshop elements 5. I spent alot of time editing a scanned photo. I was working in Text and finally got it ok. Then I saved and gave it a file name. Closed ok but when I went to "All Photos" it showed what looked like a torn picture! What's up with that! If I start all over again will I still get that gray torn picture? Thanks for any info you can give. Phil

What happens when you try and open the file again from the Organizer? A torn picture symbol is usually a sign that it's lost track of the file but there is also a file size limit for thumbnail generation that depends on the file size and RAM. Note that the organizer doesn't save the file, just the thumbnail and a link to where it is so if you saved it it's still on your hard drive where you put it so it's not lost.

Thanks loads for your quick reply! I used a copy of a photo I had meauring 4 1/2" wide x 5 3/4" long. I couldn't find the original photo so I used that copy, but I just looked again and did find the original. I'm going to scan it in and take another shot at it. I'll probably be back here with more questions. LOL Thanks again, Phil

well, I'm back... like I said. I managed to edit that same photo again and it worked ok as long as I left out the text. Every time I added text to the photo and saved it, I got that "torn picture". I can't figure out why it won't work. If you have more suggestions I would greatly appreciate it. Phil
