Funny thing is, those neon looking eyes, well those are his back end. The end with all the little spikey looking things is his face. We thought that it looked like a scottish dog in the face, only to see that end work and we were like OHHHH! Then in the one pic you can see he was looking for something to eat, I'm not sure it thats a tounge stuck out there or what. But we were hummored we were looking at the wrong end. ha ha I had never seen or heard of them, Dave said he remembered seeing them when he was little.

Hey Nancy guess who BAWLED when Dad said, away he goes. It's now in a jar in my house. If that lid comes off someone is in BIG trouble. She put several leaves in there to make sure he had pleanty of food. He just might sneak away sometime today. ;)
You are getting to know Miss Allie all to well. ha ha.

Tina,

I was about to compliment you on a great job of selective painting to create a fantasy bug :)

Rusty, we too thought it looked like it had been painted. We were totally just amazed by this little fella. No creative pse-ing here. All the work of mother nature.

Careful with that worm. It can sting you. Check this link (http://www.ext.vt.edu/departments/entomology/factsheets/saddle.html) out from the VA Cooperative Extension.

Tina,
what an ugly bug! Elaine becomes worried by crane flies and stag beetles, if she saw one of these I think she would throw a wobbly.

That has got to be the ugliest catepillar I have ever seen. After reading Gene's link I think it would have to disappear like you said before Allie gets too adventurous and gets stung. I think I would hear a flush in its future.:D

However, great shots

Just when I thought I had seen it all.....I have never even thought any bug could be so creepy. I hope I never run into him around here.

The bug has disappeared. :)
Ummmm the fish like them. do da do. :p

But we were looking at the trees again and found some more. UGH!
Gonna have to find some spray or something, they are eating those leaves off FAST!
Not good! The stings are more a skin irratation that just itches really bad for a bit. Yeah Dave found out for us.
This sure has convinced Tiffany to stop climbing in the trees.

Thanks for the comments everyone!
