I am currently using PSE 5.0 and Windows XP. I just installed Vista (32-bit) on a new hard drive and I am looking for the easiest way to move my existing catalogs to the new hard drive and Vista without losing anything. Any ideas?

I would recommend the Vista patch. That still may not solve all of your problems. Vista is causing some major headaches. :(
here is a link with directions for the move. :) Good Luck.

Thanks Kimi - patch is installed, since I read all of the posts I could find on this forum earlier. The link you sent is for moving a catalog from one drive to another. This assumes that you are running PSE and are using a catalog and just want to move files.
In my case, I am starting with a new install (since I am building a new Vista system) and I need to "import" the catalog from the XP version and move all the files to the new hard drive. I've already moved all of the files (they are in the exact same folder structure that I used on the XP system) and now I'm trying to figure out how to "import" the catalog itself (all of the tags, stacks, etc.) so that everything links up properly. Of course, Vista stores the catalog in a different location than XP.

I finally entered a case w/ Adobe tech support. My final effort was to boot up w/ XP, do a complete catalog backup to a new folder. Then I copied that new folder (with 3,500 images, etc. 3.81GB) to the Vista drive, then booted up w/ Vista. Did a complete re-install of PSE 5.0, then patched to 5.02, then tryed to restore the backup.
Everything looked like it was working until the "percent complete" meter hit 100%, then nothing. PSE just sat there, completely unresponsive, no thumbnails on the display. Let it sit for 45 minutes, just in case, but no change. After killing PSE w/ Task Manager, I tried restarting PSE and got the PSE welcome screen, just like you would expect.
When I select "Organizer", the whole thing disappears and I'm back to an empty desktop. When I look in Task Manager, I see the PhotoshopElements.exe process running, but nothing ever comes up on the screen.
Any other ideas? I'll post the results of my support call w/ Adobe when they respond.
