Hi. I have posted two pictures to start my gallery. How do I add that to my signature or let everyone know that my gallery is there? Not that it's all that great, mind you, but I do appreciate comments from all. Thanks.

Hi and welcome! Your gallery looks really nice. A while ago I copied instructions provided by Wendy to add your gallery link to your signature. Here they are:
Click on User CP at the top of the page then on Edit Signature and copy and paste this into it:
[333url=http://www.photoshopelementsuser.com/gallery/viewgallery.php?user=xxxx] My Gallery[/url]
Where it says My Gallery type in what you want to show in your signature.
Now remove the 333 and where it says xxxx type in your user number. Make sure that you don't add any extra spaces ..
To find your user number ... click on Access my Gallery then click on "Share my Gallery" and you see the user number there.

Wendy's instructions work like a charm! Your sketch caught my eye because I used to live in a house that looked just like yours. You did a nice job on that and the selective coloring also. Hope to see more of your work...

Nice start on your Gallery. Welcome to our family! :)
A small suggestion... why not add your name to your signature so everyone will know what to call you. :D

Done Kimi.
Thanks for all of the compliments. There were some things that I could not fix, but it was my first try at each effect. I'll keep working on it.

Glad you worked it out. :)
If you are looking for an easy way to jump right in, give these a try.
I post a creative link every Wednesday. It is open to everyone. Here is a link to the first 20 assignments. They don't end so if you give something a try, do post your image. :D

Very nice start to your gallery. I would recommend Wendy's tuts and Kimi's homework and you'll have that gallery full in no time! :D

I have only had the program for about a month, and have never done anything like this before. So I have been relying heavily on the tuts and the vids in the subscriber area, which have been great. As with most things, the best way to learn is trial and error. You should see some of the horrors I have created!!:D
BTW, as a subscriber, do I get a physical newsletter sent to me or is it just an electronic version available on the site?
Thanks, sorry for all of the questions.

You get a newletter mailed out, I think 8 times a year. You will love it. :)
It takes about 6 to 8 weeks for your first one to arrive.
Also think about the layers course. It is great.

Thanks Kimi I have been thinking about that kind of course. It says its for Elements 3 and I now have 5. Does that matter? Also how do those courses work? Are they long? Do I need to sit there for the whole time or can you break it up?
Sorry to bother you with all the questions.
Thanks.

Hi Kevin and Welcome to the forum!
Very nice start to your gallery too :)
The way the courses work is this: At the time you first subscribe to the course is the time every day the next days course will be available to you. There are 21 days in each course. If you subscribe at 6:18pm, then at 6:18pm each day you will get your next lesson. Watch for the bonus lessons! They are on day 7, 14, and 21. Just scroll down a tiny bit farther to find them.

How long is each day's lesson?

I am sorry, I was going to tell you that, but I forgot. Each days lesson averages about 5 minutes.

Good God. I thought you were going to tell me they were an hour or something. Five minutes I can spare. And you can do it any time after that first log in time? I would like to know more about layers. I can see what you can do, but I really don't get the theory yet.

Kevin,
Matt K teaches the Layers course, and he does an excellent job of it! You learn quite a lot every day in those 5 minutes. After your initial log in, yes you can go back and watch that days class, or any previous days class that you have already taken. The classes are 21 days worth, but you have 60 days with which to go over them.
As I said in my first post, the time of day when you first subscribe is the time of day each additional class becomes available to you.
After taking this class, you will better understand how each layer works, and what you can do with them. Layers is a very powerful tool!
Do you have high speed internet or DSL? I am not sure how well dial-up connections will work with these classes.

the basic concept of layers is easy
think of sheets of paper stacked on your desk
if the top one is larger than the bottom one - you cannot see the bottom one
if the top one has holes in it (transparent areas) - you can see the bottom layer through throse "holes"
if you take a clear plastic sheet and type a word on it and then lay it down on top of a colored sheet of paper - it will look like you have a word on a colored sheet of paper
that's really all there is to it
and the golden rule
keep your layers palette open at all times -
window> layers
when something is "glitching" check that you are on the correct layer - the problem almost always is that you are not on the correct layer

Thank you Janice for a very good explanation!
I would add one thing, the layers MUST be in the correcet order for them to work, as Kevin will learn when he takes the Layers Class.
Kevin, if when you do something in layers it does not look right or is hidden, one thing you can do is drag the layer to a new position, being above or below another layer. Try that to see if it corrects the problem.
