Hello. I have read that using CTRL-[ and CTRL-] will move down and up layers, respectively. But I cant use this shortcuts. Although I try Alt Gr+8 combination , it doesnt work. How can I type [ sign in Photoshop?

I assume you have an International keyboard (Scandinavian?) that uses the [ key for something else so I'm not sure how you'd get round this although it's not a shortcut I ever use - I just click on the layer I want in the layers palette which I find a lot easier than trying to remember a shortcut. At least on my keyboard Alt-[, Ctrl-[ and AltGr-[ all do the same thing in Elements although it's not a particularly useful thing.

The bracket keys [ and ] are to the right of the "p" key.

Speaking of working with layers, did you know if you want to simultaneously hide all layers but one, hold the Alt key and click on the eye of the layer you want to see by itself. To toggle them all back on, repeat the shortcut.

I didn't think of that, Tony. By the way, what is the Gr key? Is that only on the International keyboard?

Diana: It's the Alt key on the right - at least on my keyboard it does the same thing as Ctrl+Alt (with the left Alt key) - so I can use the right Alt +Shift+E in place of Ctrl+Alt+Shift+E to create a new "merge visible" layer.

It's also useful for the copyright symbol (right Alt C), accented characters, foreign currencies and fractions although I can never remember them all so I tend to use Character Map instead.

I found this Wikipedia article (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AltGr_key) about the AltGr key...

Having never seen an AltGr key, myself, I found it interesting, and it helps explain this whole thread!

I feel so fulfilled...:p
